Runner, Soldier and Farmer by Reggie Ocampo (1st. Feb. 2015)

2 Timothy 2:3-7 – “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life that he may please him who enlisted him as soldier. 5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not according to the rules. 6 The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops. 7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.“

Paul revealed three disciplines in his life – 2 Timothy 4:7

  • I have fought the good fight > soldier
  • I have finished the race > runner
  • I have the kept the faith > farmer

Man is a tripart / triune being: spirit, soul, and body – 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Three professions discipline three areas of our being

  • Runner disciplines the body – 1 Cor.9:24-27
  • Soldier disciplines the soul (mind, will , and emotions) and is trained to obey
  • Farmer disciplines the spirit ; faith that what is planted will yield harvest

Characteristics of a Runner/Athlete

  • Devoted Body (Romans 12:1)
  • Disciplined – healthy eating habits; regular exercise
  • Denies the flesh – rules over the body and not the other way around (Gal.5:16; 1 John 2:16).
  • Distance – marathon race and not a sprint; perseverance and longsuffering
  • Direction – run to Jesus and not away; fulfills your destiny;
  • Duration – every race has a given time; Paul ran his race given in the allotted time.
  • Dressed properly – as light as possible; lay aside every weight of sin (Heb.12:1)
  • Does not look back – Lot’s wife who was turned into a pillar of salt for looking back, we should not look back at the darkness and old life we came from; we forsake Egypt (Heb.10:38-39). Let us look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Heb.12:2).
  • Observes the rules: Disobedience disqualifies – No short-cuts; no doping. There are certain spiritual disciplines such as prayer, praise and worship, study of the Word, holiness and fellowship are basic parameters for spiritual growth
  • Determination – does not give up easily; gets up when falls

Characteristics of a Soldier

  • Disciplined through training to submit to authority and obey orders (Mt 28:19-20)
  • Knows and respects the chain of command. A soldier must know the different rankings and know who is superior. A Sergeant receives orders from a Lietunenat and not the other way around. Although we are exhorted to submit one to another, there is also such a thing as „divine order“ where there are spiritual elders in the church and five-fold ministers (Eph.4:11-13; 1 Tim.5:1). Paul knew of his sphere of influence and exercised authority accordingly (2 Cor.10:13-16). - A soldier can be court marshalled by publicly disrespecting or shaming an officer.
  • Receives Commands and not suggestions (Mt.28:19-20) : God gave the Ten Commandments through Moses, not the Ten Suggestions. Jesus commanded us to love God and our neighbor, it is not a suggestion (Mt.22: 36-40). A soldier who receives a lawful order from a General will not say “Why?“ or “I don’t feel like it?“ He salutes his superior and obeys. Our submission to God is absolute but submission to man is relative. There are unlawful orders (i.e. Nazis who annihiliated 6 million Jews) that must not be obeyed.
  • Acknowledges that he is no longer his own. He is already a property oft he State. (1 Cor.6:19). American soldier is called “G.I.’“ which means “Government Issued“. Everything he is issued by the government, for example uniform, he wears regardless of his preference. He himslef is Government issued, meaning he can be sent anywhere anytime.
  • Militant Combatant – loves righteousness and hates wickedness (Ps.45:7). Soldier knows the seriousness oft he matter (war) and that it is not a child’s game. He calls sin, sin and not just a problem.
  • Knows who the enemy is and who is not. (Eph.6:12) Does not shoot at flesh and blood but powers, principalities, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Jesus rebuked Satan from Peter (Mt.16:23).
  • Trained to use his weapons: (Mk k.16:17-18; Lk.10: 17- 19; Jn.14:12-14; 16:23-24; Acts 3:6, 12, 16; Acts 4:7, 10; Phil.2:9-10)
    • A. Blood of Jesus /Blut Jesu: Rom.5:9; Eph.1:7; 2:13; Rev.12:11
    • Word of God / Gottes Wort: Heb.4:12; Eph.6:12
    • Prayer / Gebet (Speaking in Tongues/Sprechen in Zungen): Rom.8:26-28; 1 Cor.14:2; Eph.6:18; Jude 20; Eph.5:18-19
    • Praise and Worship / Lobpreis und Anbetung – Ps.149:5-9
    • Prophecy / Prophetie: 1 Tim.1:18
  • Motivation
  • Please the Commander (2 Tim.2:5); Save and protect the people- his loved ones ; aware of the consequences of both obedience and disobedience (Rom.10:14-15)
  • Camaraderie: Unity (Eph.4:3)
  • Fight with Faith and Good Conscience (1 Tim.1:18-19): no offence towards God and man (Acts 24:16).
  • High Morale: We are Victors in Christ Jesus! (1 John 3:8)

STRONGHOLDS: The Battle in the Mind by Reggie Ocampo  (25th Jan. 2015 )

FESTUNGEN: Der Krieg in den Gedanken

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

We are in a Battle
Wir sind in einem Kampf

Eph.6:10-12 – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.“

Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.“

Run Your Race by Reggie Ocampo (18th Jan. 2015)
Hebrews 12:1-“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Intro:
A lot of road accident fatalities take place because of a “Geisterfahrer” or one who drives on the wrong side of the road.
“Are you driving on your lane?”
- Key in remaining in the balance beam is keeping your eyes straight on.

1. You are Unique, there is no one like you.
> Don’t try to be somebody else.
Ps.139:14 – “ I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.“
> Don’t let the world reshape you in somebody else you are not
Romans 12:2- “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.“

2. You have special gifts to fulfill your special calling in your life.
> Don’t run somebody else’s race.
Acts 20:24 – “But none of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify tot he gospel of the grace of God.“
- King Saul unlawfully offered priestly offerings. It was Samuel’s job and not his.
> Don’t think your gift is less important.
> Take off Saul’s armor and wear what you are used to.
1 Samuel 17:38-40

3. You are the best you.
> Don’t be a terrible copycat.
2 Cor.10:12 – “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.“
- Being „successful“ in the wrong thing is failure. In taking an examination, it is very important to listen carefully to the instructions.
- Comparison spawns pride and envy:

3.1. Pride – you feel superior to somebody else when you compare
3.2. Envy – you feel inferior as you see other have something which you do not have. Psalm 73 - Holiness with contentment is great gain

4. You will be accountable to God for what you have received from Him.
> Don’t be stressed out on somebody else’s business.
2 Cor.10:13 – “We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us – a sphere which God appointed us – a sphere which especially includes you.“
John 21:20-22- “ Turning his head, Peter noticed the disciple Jesus loved following right behind. 21When Peter noticed him, he asked Jesus, “Master, what's going to happen to him?” 22Jesus said, “If I want him to live until I come again, what's that to you? You—follow me.”
> There are different dimensions of calling for different people.
Exodus 18:21- “Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.”

Conclusion:
- Christopher Scharnweber’s heart to heart advise to me: You are enrichment to us. Remain in your special kind of way, manner, and passion. If you try to become like one of us, then that’s exactly what’s going to happen, you are going to be just one of us.
- I am a terrible Reinhard Bonnke Jr. or Billy Graham Jr…but I will be the best Reggie Ocampo

True Worship by Reggie Ocampo (4th. Jan. 2015)

Psalm 11:3-“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?“
- Worship, like prayer, is one of the basic foundations that each follower of Christ should have firmly established.
- Everybody worships, including the unbelievers. Some worship money, career, ego etc. They may admit it or not but everybody worships somebody or something. The question is: “Are you worshipping the true God?“

1. True Worship is in Spirit and in Truth
John 4:23-24-“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; fort he Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship Him in spirit and truth.“
- False worship is one that does not come from the heart
Matthew 15:8-9-“These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.“

2. True Worship is Loving God; it is Fulfilling Our Call
Matthew 22:36-40-“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, ’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ’You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.“
- We praise God for WHAT He has done but we worship Him for WHO He is.

3. True Worship is Offering
I Chronicles 16:29-“Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!“
- David’s offering in transporting the Ark of the Covenant from Obed-Edom’s house to Zion was expensive and extravagant.
- The Distance was 9.65 Kilometers or 6 miles
- 1 pace = 2 feet 2 inches = 0.66 meter, David would stop every 6 paces and build an altar, and offer an animal sacrifice. He killed animal, dressed it, offer build an altar, pick it up, stop again How long did it take it.
- 2437 stops over 6 miles (9.65 kilometres)
- 406 stops per 1.6 kilometers = 1 mile
- 2437 oxen slain
- 2437 calves slain
- If it took 30 minutes to prepare for the ritual sacrifice, it took him 1259 hours or 52 days, with 8 hours of sleep 3 hours to eat a day, that’s an additional 630 hours.
- 78 days to cover 9.65 kilometers or 6 miles full of worship.
- David was a king who had much to do but he knew 78 days to worship God was more important than anything else.

4. True Worship is Submission
Psalm 95:6-“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
- Muslim email questions why there are no Christians who fall and bow down before God.
- God gives grace to the humble but rejects the proud (James 4:6)

5. True Worship is at All Times (Good and Bad times)
Job 1:20-“Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: ’Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.“
- No excuses: even a man who had 2000 demons worshiped the Lord (Mark 5:6)

6. True Worship leads to Repentance
Isaiah 6:1-4-“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: ’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!’ And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: ’Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.“

7. True Worship is a Place of Transformation
II Corinthians 3:18-“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.“

8. True Worship Pleases God; our Contact Point with God
John 4:23-24-“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship Him in spirit and truth.“
- We are catapulted to our dimension.

9. True Worship is a Privilege
Ezekiel 44:15 “But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near Me to minister to Me; and they shall stand before Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood,” says the Lord GOD. “
- Not everyone can approach the Lord and touch his heart. We are blessed we can enter into Presence through the new and living way.

Closing word:
- True Worship belongs to the Lord only. He is worthy of worship.
- When we worship Him, we are giving what is rightfully His but we also benefit from it.
- Let us learn to be lost in His Presence where time ceases as we enter eternity.
- “Son, time spent in My Presence can never be wasted time.“

Heart of Worship by David Ocampo (30th Nov. 2014)

What is worship?
Lyrics from Heart of Worship "When the music fades and all is stripped away and I simply come, longing just to bring something that’s of worth that will bless your heart, I’ll bring you more than a song for a song in itself is not what you have required, you search much deeper within through the way things appear, your looking into my heart. I’m coming back to the heart of worship, where is all about YOU JESUS!"

Dictionary defines Worship as:
1. A expression of reverence
2. extravagant respect or devotion

Did you come today with an expression of reverence to God?
Did you come with extravagant respect or devotion to God for his love for all of us?

If you did not or you simply have not had the revelations of what worship is, today’s message is about RETURNING TO THE HEART OF WORSHIP

I. KNOWING THE PRIORITY OF WORSHIP

- The first priority of worship, is knowing that JESUS is your FIRST priority!
- The first commandment of Jesus:

Mark 12:30
„Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your
mind and with all your strength“
- Many times we get lost in our service to him, the riches of this world, work, our
children, our troubles, etc.
- But our first priority needs to be worship for our service and devotion to him flows out of our worship.
- Priests of the Old Testament had a main priority
Ezekiel 44:15
„come near to me and minister to me.“
- minister to God above everything else.

- It was true and important then and it still is today

II. DOING PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
- If you want to become good at something you need more than talent, you need to
practice and practice and practice even more.

1. Learn to walk with God daily
- 1.Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is
God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
- ALWAYS
- CONTINUALLY
- IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES

2. Learn to depend on God
- Allow him to be in control
- Let him guide you in his way and his time!

3. Learn to offer a sacrifice of worship
- when you don’t feel like worshipping, you are down, or maybe you sinned against God
—> learn to worship despite of what happened

Proverbs 27:17
„As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.“
When we worship together great things happen and take place.

III.the HEART

H: Humility
The woman who broke the alabaster jar and washed the feet of Jesus with her tears and dried them with her hair showed humility.

E: Emotion
King David danced on the street without shame.
The woman cried in front of Jesus and everybody else in the room.
—> Don’t judge the worship of others by appearance.
As a matter of fact don’t look at how others worship at all, focus on how you worship Him. Show your emotion, because worship often stirs up our emotions - don’t be afraid to show them.

A: Adoration
Luke 7:44-45
Jesus turned toward the woman and said, to Simon: "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.

- This woman did not rest until she found Jesus.
- She risked being embarrassed.
- She was willing to be broken before the Lord.

R: Repentance
John 4:23
„A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.“
- In order to offer God true worship we need to be free from sin.
- He does not want strange/foreign fire; worship
- True worship requires true worship

T: Thanksgiving
Worship is the time when we can give our all to Him.
This is the time where we can simply thank him instead of asking him.
John 4:24 „God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.“

Missed opportunity/verpasste Gelegenheit
• Mark 10: 21 - Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” [22] But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Two cents is more / Zwei Cent sind mehr

I. Witnesses for Jesus

II. One in Spirit with the Lord
1 Cor 6:16-17-“Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh." 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”

Matt 20:21-23
21 And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." 22 But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." 23 So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father." NKJV

VI. Not Greater than Him
John 15:18-23
18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. X. Early Church encouraged one another by declaring they were going to suffer
Acts 14:21- And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, [22] strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

"Fear" by Simon Bate (29th June 2014)

Have you noticed fear in your life? How big is the role that fear plays in our lives? I’m talking about common fear here. Not the fear of God.

I believe that Jesus was never fearful. Even as the sin of the world came upon him, he was troubled, but courageous till death. He was committed and he endured:
- Role model for us
- Enabler
- Suffered and endured for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2) The joy of saving us all!
- Jesus died in faith that He would be raised. The joy of the bride of Christ (that we are becoming a part of).

Stop partnering with fear! Did you know that fear can become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Roland Baker in Tübingen on 29th May, Holy Spirit Week, TOS Gemeinde Tübingen said : "Kingdom of God minus joy = Church today!" A weak, powerless church.

James 1:2-8, 13-17

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;
14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

v2: Consider it pure joy when you face trials, because you know the testing of your faith will produce perseverance, which leads to maturity & completeness.

Fear, worry, doubt, depression: these words do not belong to the life of a believer.

When was the last time I considered a trail to be pure joy?
Have we ever experienced joy in trials?
Could it be that we have more to understand?

Neh. 8:10 The joy of the Lord is my strength. Without the joy of the Lord we are weak and powerless.

John 15:9-11 (Jesus said) “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love… I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

How do we lose our joy? By not obeying Jesus’ commands: sin. And then comes “the accuser of the brethren”

The Bible says that we sin by our own evil desires (James 1:13-15). But then comes Satan “the accuser of the brethren” who tries to pull us down. If we give him a foothold, he takes it and accuses us.

Satan likes to use half truths (which are lies). He likes to keep us bound in fear and to destroy our true identity. We are not living God’s will for us when we sin. Satan takes pleasure in every opportunity to remind us of this, but then claims things like:
- It will always be like this
- You cannot help yourself
- It is not possible to live a sinless life (but it is). Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery: “go and sin no more.” John 8:11. What he commands he also enables!

v14:
Let us be aware of the process at work. A heart that is not fully given over to the Lord is dragged away from God’s ways by its own evil desires, leading to sin. Through sin our joy (strength) gets taken.

Let us repent of our own evil desires. Let us give Satan no opportunity to criticise us. Let us cast off fear and replace it with faith that God has loved us, cleaned us through Jesus death and resurrection (past, present & future). Our identity is Christ. We are in Him and He is in us. Love covers a multitude of sin.

v5:
If anyone lacks wisdom – If you don’t know what to do (worry, fear), ask God what to do and believe that he will answer. He gives generously to all without finding fault. Satan likes to find fault, not God! But in order to receive an answer from God, we need to believe that he will answer! Faith is required!

Kris Vallotton:
“The entire spirit world operates by faith. E.g. Fear is the manifestation that we have faith in the wrong kingdom. When we believe something is going to go wrong, we have given our faith to the enemy. By doing this we have just empowered the one that Jesus disarmed at the Cross. When we believe in God, we empower the Holy Spirit to bring about His will” (good).

Safe believers

Have we become safe believers? What is a safe believer? Someone who only believes for sure things. Faith is not required for this. Another name for unbelieving believers!

Did we become confused? We are saved, but not to live safe lives. “He who loses his life for me will save it.” Mark 8:35
No, we are not saved to live safe lives. He who loses his life for me will find it. Matthew 10:39

A mere natural life is boring! It’s a living death! What a waste, when the supernatural life is available to us through Jesus Christ!

Friends, let us break out!
Let us burn together and burn bright!
Hebrews 11:39: "These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised…" The saints died, not having received what was promised! They died in faith.

Jesus didn’t die for you so that you can live a safe life. Die to self. But we want to “have our cake and eat it” This kind of safety is waste. Do we want to be saved from our safe lives? No! We are saved so that we are set free to live dangerously for our Lord. Jesus’ ministry was not a safe life.

Desire for excessive safety (fear) is an enemy of adventure!

Matthew 10:28 Jesus said “do not be afraid of those who kill the body”

Let us believe! Faith has feet! Not just a head! God is not against the mind as long as it is renewed! The unrenewed mind is hostile to God. Faith takes us places unreachable with the logic of the mind alone.

Example: David Hathaway, 30th May, Holy Spirit Week, TOS Gemeinde Tübingen, said: “If it is not impossible, I’m not interested”

Passion: to know God more…
Anything possible can be accomplished without the Holy Spirit.
Let’s aim higher. Do we want to do the impossible?

Risk & Return

The world knows the laws of risk and return. E.g. in finances and business.
High risk investment high chance of return. High chance of loss.

Risk is the opposite of safety!

Parallel in God’s Kingdom.
As believers, we have the largest safety net around! This should free us to live radical lives, where risk is normal!

Let’s ask the question: have we been playing life too safe?
Have I been living out of fear of the world and fear of man – or have I been living with the love of Christ burning and empowering within me?

If we are growing we are always outside of our comfort zone. Be brave!

Our God is the God of the impossible! What a resource! What a chance!

Get Happy!

We need to get happy! Even the unbelievers will tell you that happiness is a choice. How much more for the believer, because we are no longer chained to sin, but are free to choose.

I shall not be afraid. I will have joy! The joy of the Lord is my strength! Let’s be strong. Let’s get happy and stop being fearful. Stop those fearful thoughts in their tracks!

Believe the promises of God

Don’t doubt his promises! Do an internet search on the promises of God! There are many wonderful promises!

Bill Johnson:
“Promises are like the rudder of a ship. Rudders determine the direction of that ship. And what I do with God’s promises determines the direction of my thought life, and eventually affect my reality. It is essential that we understand what God thinks of me (and others) in order to step into my destiny… We cannot afford to think differently about ourselves than God does.”

Source: "The Supernatural Ways of Royalty, by Kris Vallotton & Bill Johnson"

Recognise that potential God placed within you. You are not your own. You were bought at a high price. The price is paid.
You are precious to God (treasure). A weapon in his hand, to those who believe!

Randy Clark said in his preaching:
“Lord, I’m a coin in your pocket, spend me any way you wish”.
I’m of great value to God. Send me! Spend me!

What caused Jesus to save us (the safety net)? His love for us! Please let us understand, He loves you! He’s got you in his hand. And the gates of hell have no hold on you anymore! The ultimate “get out of jail free card” monopoly. Except with this one we lose our lives to save our lives. Now we are truly freed and empowered by Christ.

v16: don’t be deceived! Every good and perfect gift is from above. Our insurer is the unchanging creator and God of the universe! He’s got the highest rating! He’s got you covered! Whether we live or die. What is the fee? A surrendered life of faith.

Fears in Evangelism

In my experience there are at least two:

1. Fear of man. What will people think (identity)? Perfect love drives out all fear. Open vision of God’s love -> drove fear of evangelism out of me!

2. Fear that I have nothing to offer the world – living a lie, not a life of faith
- Repent! Get right with God. He’s the God of second chances! The best loving father ever!
- Move on & Stop believing the lie of Satan that you are powerless

What does this mean for our lives?

I always wanted to do something great with my life! Let’s break out of the chains of fear! To live in faith is gain. To die in faith is gain! Whether we live or die, suffer or not, let us be free from fear!

Let’s be aware when fear threatens to handicap us, and reject it before we are chained by it. Count the number of times fear comes into your heart this week.

Fear of the future?

Where is God speaking to you today? In what areas of you life? E.g. Jobs, relationships, families, location, missions, service, giftings? Are you letting fear take the lead in any of these areas?

What is your mountain? What is impossible in your life? Let’s repent of wrong thinking, be set free of “the sin that so easily ensnares” and move on in joy!

You’ve got to lose it to get it! Lose your life to save it! Ask God and believe that you will receive the answer! See James 1:5.

Let’s expose & depower the lies that have been holding us back!

How many of us are counting our trials as pure joy? We have a choice:
We can be restricted by fear, conquered by our problems, bound and handicapped, or we can count them as pure joy and resist the temptation of letting fear, worry doubt and depression from taking hold of the life that is within us through Jesus!

We do not deny reality, but we deny that reality an influence on our thinking. The ultimate reality is God! His reality is a higher level – the trump card. And God is the source of all true love! There is true safety in him, regardless whether we live or die!

Your internal victory over fear will become visible on the outside! God desires to empower you to change this world for good.

Let’s attempt big things for Christ! Let us believe that He goes with us!
Will you join me in breaking out?

Prayer:

Father God, forgive me for letting fear bind me. I repent of the sin of fear in my life. Forgive me Lord for doubting your promises. Help me God! Set me free from the spirit of fear. Help me Lord to consider the trials in my life to be pure joy! Thank you Jesus.

Mountains and Altars by Reggie Ocampo
Intro:
Revelation is congruent to intimacy and vice-versa. People get revelation because they are intimate with the Lord and they are intimate with the Lord because they have a revelation.
The heights you soar in revelation knowledge is rooted on the depth of your intimacy with the Lord. Big trees must have deep root systems.
The love of God has dimensions and we are exhorted to know both the height and depth, also the length and breadth (Eph.3:18)
There are heights, or mountains of spiritual experience, that the Lord wants us to experience. He Himself is on each of those mountain and He is inviting us to come with Him. The metaphor used is that of a young stag leaping upon mountains.
God’s grace enables the believer to leap with the lover of her soul.
The mountains are chronologically arranged for the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
It is from glory to glory, from strength to strength, and from faith to faith.
Those that have gone ahead of us have built “altars” on each mountain experience.
The word “Altar” is mentioned at least 323 times in the English Bible.
God is looking for “Altar builders”.

Foundations:

The Old Testament were written as examples for us
1 Cor 10:11-“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Christian Life is a Spiritual Journey – things are going to get more glorious
Prov 4:18 –“ But the path of the just is like the shining sun,* That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. “
John 2:10-“ And he said to him, "Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!"
Isa 25:6-“ And in this mountain The Lord of hosts will make for all people A feast of choice pieces, A feast of wines on the lees, Of fat things full of marrow, Of well-refined wines on the lees. “
2 Cor 3:18-“ But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. “
Rom 1:17-“ For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
Ps 84:7-“They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.”

Hind’s Feet in High Places
Our Lover is inviting us to join Him in jumping from mountain top to mountain top.
Hind is a female deer ; Stag – male deer
He makes our feet like that of hind’s feet – Cloven Feet = Love (desire/longing) + Faith
“Breakthrough comes from a great desire that comes from a great sense of need.”
Mountains mentioned in chronological order as our experience with the Lord progresses.
To know where you are going, you got to know where you are.

Ps 18:33 – “He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. “
2 Sam 22:34 –“He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places. “
Song 2:8-9 – “The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes leaping upon the mountains, Skipping upon the hills. 9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.”

Altars
Altars were built by men after they encountered God and received His grace and mercy.
Covenants were cut; promises and commitment were given and sealed.
A place where God and man meets; a touch point.
Offerings and sacrifices were presented to the Lord.
Renewal of vows
Milestones and Memorials
Remembering the Promises and also instructions of the God (Exodus 17:14-16)

Mount of Ararat – Creation / New Beginning = Born Again experience (Gen.8:4)
Feast of Passover (Lev.23:5-14; Numbers 9:1-14; Deut.16:1-8)
Salvation
Ararat by definition means “Creation or Holy Land”
Noah’s Ark settled on Ararat
Picture of being born again – a new beginning
Noah’s experience as a picture of our experience with Christ = Baptism (1 Peter 3:18-21)
Noah lived in a wicked generation yet found favor in the eyes of God (Phil.2:15). The Lord chose us in this present dark world.
He preached by faith as there was no such thing as “rain” in his days (Heb.11:7). We walk by faith and not by sight.
Ark – Jesus is our Salvation ; there’ll be a time for the door to close
New Creation –Born Again experience (2 Cor.5:17)
8 souls saved – New beginning; No.8 – new week; David was the 8th son; Aaron & sons were consecrated for 7 days and ministered on the 8th day; Feast of Tabernacles lasted for 7 days and the 8th day was a “Holy Convocation”; Israel camped around the Tabernacle in 8 groups; Jesus used the word “born” 8x in John 3. Noah’s name was mentioned 8x and then it was said that “And Noah walked with God” = a new beginning.
Noah preached 120 years = end of flesh and beginning of spirit
2 Chron. 5:12-14 - 120 priests at the dedication of Solomon’s Temple couldn’t continue to minister as the Glory (Spirit) of God fell.
Acts 2- 120 disciples at the upper room were baptized in the Spirit.
We are new creatures, not repaired, renovated, rehabilitated.
God’s Seed (sperma) is in us. We are partakers of the Divine Nature (2 Pet.1:4).
Holy Land = Holy Nation (1 Peter 2:19).
Jesus is the “last Adam” and the “Second Man”. He put to death the Adamic nature on the cross of Calvary (1 Cor.15:45-49).
We are called to walk in holiness
Covenant – Rainbow = No condemnation in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)
First Altar Builder – Noah (Gen.8:20-21)
Despite a traumatic experience Noah offers thanksgiving to the Lord.
God received Noah’s offering and His response was a promise not to destroy the earth with water. Individual altars may also have an effect on others.
Rainbow: covenant sign. We have the same assurance that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

Mount Moriah – Sanctification / Offering (Gen.22:1-19)
Feast of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 12:8, 15-20, 31-39)
Sanctification
Moriah – “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided” ; “The Lord Sees”
God testing the heart of Abraham (Hebrews 11:17-19).
The test – “Do we love the blessing more than the source of the blessing?”
Abraham’s statement of faith (Gen.22:5,8) – “we will return”.
In Isaac was attached all the fulfillment of God’s promises to Abraham
Father of many nations (Genesis 12:1-3)
Heir of the world (Romans 4:13)
Heavenly City > composed of people from many nations< (Heb.11:8-10; 1 Peter 2:5).
Everything Abraham believed in was attached in Isaac & he offered it to the Lord.
Now that we are seated on the right hand of God, we are commanded to seek those things that are above (Colossians 3:1).
Authority (Eph. 1:18-2:6) 6. Blessings and Pleasures (Psalm 16:11)
Victory (Psalm 98:1) 7. Righteousness (Psalm 48:10)
Strength and Support (Isa.48:10) 8. Inheritance (Matthew 25:34)
Guidance (Psalm 139:10) 9. Power (Exodus 15:6)
Power of Creating (Isa.48:13; 57:19)
Now that the Lord is assured of Abraham’s love more than anything else, the Lord will provide.
Foreshadows Golgotha / Calvary
Feast of Sheaf of First fruits (Lev.23:9-14)
Moriah speaks of our love relationship. God looking at our hearts and He provides.
Living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2)
It is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom (Luke 12:32).
Abraham built an altar to the Lord (Genesis 12:7-8; 22:9-10)
A place of total surrender and total devotion.
An offering given in faith (Abraham told the servants to wait for them).

Mount Sinai – Covenant relationship between God and His people (Exodus 19:1-19)
Feast of Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15-22)
Baptism in the Holy Spirit

2 Cor 3:6 –“who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the
Spirit;* for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. “

Ezek 36:26-28 –“ I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
God has never changed with His side of the covenant, what has changed is what we have to do. In the New Covenant, we believe.

Covenant Names of God

Mount Ebal – Redemption; from curse to blessing (Joshua 8:30-32)
Formerly Moses was instructed to curse Ebal (Deuteronomy 11:29)
Disobedience brings a curse
Even patriarchs have a checkered past and have failed spectacularly
Nobody wants to be in such a place
Stuck between a rock and hard place
God instructs Joshua to build an altar
Nation of Israel upon entering the promise land built an altar on Ebal
Type of Golgotha: Cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree but it is an altar of redemption
Joshua = Jesus
What was meant for evil has been turned for good

- Unity in humility; Holiness unto the Lord, Only God is praised and honored.
It became an enemy stronghold because of the inaction/disobedience of the tribe of Benjamin (Judges 1:8,21).
Benjamites took Jerusalem but left a part of it to the Jebusites.
Mt.Zion became an impregnable mighty fortress. The secret was it had a continuous water supply.
David’s first act as King of Israel was to declare war on Jebusites and conquer Mt.Zion (2 Samuel 5:6-9).
Jebusites claim of the blind (non-visionaries) and lame (backsliders or people who do not know the walk of faith) would repel David’s attempts.
After 430 years, David conquered Mt.Zion as they entered throught he water shaft (life source). He didn’t allow the intimidation nor the historical record of his forefathers leaving the Jebusites alone.
We must destroy all enemy strongholds before we can experience His mighty presence.
David’s second act as King of Israel was to get back the Ark of the Covenant (God’s presence).
Man’s method, program, system, religion will not work.
Obed-Edom’s household was blessed as he welcomed the presence (1 Chronicles 15:18,21,24).

Description/Characteristics of Mount Hermon
Highest of all mountains – Chief of all mountains

It has three peaks (center is the tallest) and are snow capped = Trinity

Unity of God flows down to His Body, the Church
Dew = unity/love of the Godhead flowing to the body of Christ (Psa.133, John 17:22-23)
Mount Hermon is the transfiguration experience/ transformation process

2 Cor 3:17-18-“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. “
Rom 8:28-29-“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Eph 4:11-13-“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; “
Num 14:21-“but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord —“

Our Blessed Hope – not flying to heaven but being transformed into His very image
1 John 3:1-3-“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be
called children of God!* Therefore the world does not know us,* because it did not know Him. 2
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we
know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And
everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. “

Only One Tabernacle : Only One Altar (Matthew 17:1-8)
After all the diverse altars and experiences, everything will be consumed in Christ
1 Cor.15:28

Conclusion:
The Lover of our souls is inviting us to leap with Him from mountain top to mountain top until we be transformed into His very image and likeness. In all of the heights we experience with Him, let us not forget to build Him an altar.

Knowing and Action (Elisha & the Sons of the Prophets)
Reggie Ocampo (23 Feb. 2014)

2 Kings 2:1-18
1. Significant Moment > Elijah was about to be taken (v.1)
- We are living in a crucial moment. God is doing something in the land.
- The spiritual battle is getting more intense.
- Timing is key in catching a wave.
- Elijah went with Elisha, not the other way around. There was a meaning to that. Elijah was already dropping a hint.
- We need to be able to read the signs. Why is Elijah taking Elisha with him.

2. Progressive Growth
- Spiritual life is a journey.
- We go from glory to glory (2 Cor.3:18); from strength to strength (Ps.84:7); from faith to faith (Rom.1:17)
- Stagnation is dangerous; we must flow with the Spirit.
- Meaning of different places:

2.1. Gilgal
- Place of circumcision (Joshua 4:19-5:3)
- Born again experience; New covenant (Romans 2:29)

2.2. Bethel
- House of God (Genesis 35:7)
- Integration and involvement in the life of the church (Ephesian 2:21-22)
- Active in Ministry

2.3. Jericho
- Place of great victory (Joshua 6)
- Signs and wonders; miracles; great victories
- Supernatural dimension

2.4. Jordan – fullness (after the descent)
- Literally means “Descent”
- “Dying to self” and brokenness
- Place of repentance (Luke 3:3)
- Prerequisite to entering the Promise Land
- Jesus was baptized in the river Jordan
- Fullness = the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit seen in the same place (Matthew 3:16-17)

3. Sons of the prophets versus Elisha; Knowledge versus Action
- Who were the “sons of the prophets”? Different opinions, followers of Samuel or just spectators of fans.
- They had no insight; always learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth (2 Tim.3:7)
- Israel knew the acts of God but Moses knew the ways of God (Ps.103:7).
- They didn’t have any insight: If Elijah was going to be taken out, then the anointing will not be taken up to heaven. It will stay on earth and God needs a vessel to carry the anointing.
- Elisha knew it is the time of receiving something awesome.
- Elisha was sticking it out with Elijah

4. Jordan- the Ultimate
- Definition: “The Descent”
- “Dying to self” before the Fullness
- Elisha was willing to go down while the sons of the prophets stood at a distance.
- Are you going down or are you watching from the other side?

5. Double Portion in Covenant and Divine Order
- Portion of the Firstborn Son = Double

5.1. Submission to the divine order (Hebrews 13:17)
- Elisha called Elijah “My father, my father…” (v.12)

5.2. New comes when we are willing to let go of the old
- Elisha tore his garments and then picked up the mantle of Elijah (v.12)
- Leaving the comfort zones and old security blankets in order to embrace the new by faith
- New wine is poured on new wineskins (Mark 2:22)

5.3. Migrate from the old into the new
- Folly of the Sons of the prophets:
- They already saw the spirit of Elijah upon Elisha but they still insisted to search for the body of Elijah. They could not let go of the old order.
- Against the advice of the new leadership, they wasted time and effort with 50 men searching for 3 days for nothing.
- Tragic: They did not act on information that needed to be acted upon because of lack of insight. On the other hand, they refused to accept clear instruction and acted against it wasting time and effort.

Conclusion:
• Discern the Time
• Act upon the given Insight
• Move with the Glory
• Ask boldly and in Faith
• Descend to Jordan to receive the Fullness
• Leave the Old to experience the New
• Be Patient with those who are Stuck

- Compromise, manipulation, and perversion are all done in the name of “tolerance.”
Enumerated in Proverbs 6:16-19 - These six things the LORD hates,
“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
[17] A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,
[18] A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,
[19] A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

2.1. A proud look
- He rejects the proud (James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5)
- Lord hates hypocrisy; religious self-righteousness (Luke 12:1)

Communion Exhortation:discern the Lord’s body (1 Cor 11:27-30)

Fully Activated (“Loving by Doing” Series) R.Ocampo 26.01.14

Intro: -
My Logos Bible Software Library worth almost $ 15,000 are all stored in a very little plastic thing called a Micro SD card. Isn’t it amazing how a small “insignificant” thing can contain such vast amount of data and information?!

It is the same thing with you and me, we seem to look very insignificant. We are so small in comparison to such a vast Universe and yet God chose to “download” so much, actually Himself, into us.

SIM card in telephones are activated by giving the correct PIN code.

Computer virus or Trojan horses wreck our computers.

The Lord has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

There is a mighty power that is at work within us (no longer up in heaven).

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Issue is no longer if we have the “heavenly program” but are we activating it?

Elisha was activated by Elijah
1 Kings 19:19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, "Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you." And he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?" 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

Doing is a result of Being: Christ in us the hope of glory!
Col.1:26-27
Unlike religious people who are also preaching “obedience” but are struggling in “pushing an automobile”, we have been given the spiritual ability through Christ Jesus to fulfill God’s will.

Enemy is cunning; he is continually trying to corrupt our system by programming spiritual “virus programs” or passing on “Trojan horse malwares”.

Foothold become stronghold; Oppression becomes Possession

A little leaven leavens the whole lump
1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

Process of Decay
James 1:14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

(a) Own desire and enticement

(b) Drawn by Temptation

(c) Uncontrolled Desire

(d) Sin

(e) Death

Achan’s sin (Joshua 7:20-21): he saw, coveted, and took the Babylonian garment

Negative Activation
Genesis 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Song of Solomon 2:15 Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have are tender grapes.

(a) Impure Thoughts

(b) Resentment

(c) Doubts

(d) Offended Heart

(e) Unresolved Issues / Misunderstandings

(f) Unbiblical Meditations of the Heart

God sometimes allows our minds to be offended for our hearts to be exposed
Deuteronomy 8:2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the ways these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Provocation reveals the dormant spiritual virus

Cold water reveals cavities on bad tooth

Jesus had no darkness in him: He was totally “Virus-free!”

John 14:30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

There was nothing in Jesus that the enemy can activate.

Joseph was tempted by Potiphar’s wife everyday but he didn’t succumb to it.

We should continually scan our “inner system” (minds and hearts) of any possible virus or darkness that the enemy can activate.

Reckon yourself dead unto sin so there will be no negative activation that can take place (Romans 6:10-14)

Guards up for total protection

Guard what you watch, meditate, and desire.
Luke 11:34 The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Deactivate and delete the spiritual viruses
The blood of Christ cleanses.

Consecration of priests in the Old Testament; blood applied on the ear, thumb, and toe (Leviticus 8:22-23)

(a) Ear – what you hear and meditate on

(b) Thumb – what you do; the labor of your hands

(c) Toe – sense of balance; lifestyle

Conclusion:
Is there is still a flame of First Love in you that can be activated? Song of Solomon 8:5

Summary:
Doing is a result of being

Activate the life of Divine life within you

Deactivate and delete the ungodly desires

Be fully activate in order for you to fulfil your calling and divine destiny

TRUE FOUNDATION by R.Ocampo 12.01.14
Ps.11:3 – “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

Intro:
- One of the tragedies of 2013 was the collapse of the garment factory building in Bangladesh. Foundation is crucial. If it is not deep and strong enough, it can be fatal.
- We are all familiar with „Amazing Grace“ and we are benefactors of it. We are saved by grace through faith (Eph.2:8-9). Grace is free but it is not cheap.
- We are not legalistic but at the same time we do not excuse “sin”.
- We are not under the law but we are not lawless.

1. The Church’s foundation is a revelation of the Word (Matthew 16:16-19)

2. Your life’s foundation is doing the word you heard.
- James 1:22 – “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
- Matt 7:24-27
24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."

3. Faith without works is dead.
- Belief is good but even demons believe and they tremble.
- James 2:19-20
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe — and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

4. Fulfilling the will of the Father is not in words but actually doing.
- Confession of faith is good but not complete
- Matt 21:28-31 - "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go, work today in my vineyard.' 29 He answered and said, 'I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, 'I go, sir,' but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first."

5. Loving God is keeping His commandments
- John 14:15 – “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

6. Reward is given to those who obey the commandments
- Rev 22:14
“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”

7. Evidence of salvation faith manifests by deeds
- Matthew 25:36-46

8. Grace is free but not cheap. It is not to be abused. Grace is not a license to sin.
- 1 Cor 15:10-11
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

9. Righteousness ought to exceed that of the Pharisees
- Matt 5:20
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
- Pharisees: Pray and Fast; Pay Tithes; Custom to attend Temple worship.

10. God did His part, we have to do ours.
- God worked alone before Adam but afterwards, He always worked in partnership with man or woman.
- We do the natural and God does the supernatural.

Conclusion:
- Conviction does not mean obedience.
- True Foundation of life is hearing, believing, and doing the Word of God.

YEAR FOR THE HUNGRY AND THIRSTY
“Don’t let Pop Culture Ruin Your Appetite”
R.Ocampo 05.01.14

Intro: We use modern technology to advance the Kingdom of God. We are not Anti-technology. However, we must discern the prevailing culture that is subtly forming our mentality. If unchecked, it could be like spiritual “junk food” that ruins our appetite for real nourishment.

Mt 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
Lk 1:52-53 – “He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.”
Ps 42:1-2 – “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?”
Mk 4:24 – “Then He said to them, ‘Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.”

Evaluation of the Present State of the Church and the World
Rev 3:17-18 – “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ – and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked – I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be clothed.”

Technology Savvy – Distracted – Myth of “Multi-tasking”

Drinking and Leaking (Trinken und Auslaufen) by Simon Bate – Sunday December 15, 2013

What could it be?
What is drinking?  Alcohol?!
What is leaking?  Peeing?!
Why are they important?

Recently I found myself unhappy and drifting.  Asked the Lord: what is wrong?
I heard: drinking and leaking.

John 7:37-38 Jesus said: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink, and rivers of living waters will flow out from within them.”

The Lord’s prayer:  Matt 6:10 “Your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Luke 10:21 “Jesus was (continually) full of joy (drunk) through the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 13:52 “The disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit (drunk).”

- Hunger & thirst for more of God. Only God can satisfy us.

Remain hungry for more! Learn to "taste and see that the Lord is good," (Psalm 34:8).
"Taste" means to experience the nature of God.  The more we taste the more we want.  There’s always more.
Bill Johnson says: „If we spend time with the Lord it changes our desires.  „We always become like the one we worship.“

"Without faith it is impossible to please [God], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb. 11:6).

Through Evangelist Charles G. Finney multitudes were saved. But sometimes he found that he had "leaked out," and that God’s presence and the manifested power of the Holy Ghost did not accompany his words. Then he set himself to again receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit would return to him with power.

Drinking:

What do we have to offer if we are not connected with our Lord and maker?  Very little.

Where do I find my source?  What kind of source is He?  A God of relationship.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Let’s open ourselves consciously & intentionally to the Holy Spirit.

Focus on evangelism without focus on our Lord is to miss the point!  Why does he want us to evangelize?  For relationship!  He loves you all so much.  Yes, you!

If I’m giving or serving without being connected to the source, pretty soon I’m going to be dry.

Did you know that God is good and is in a good mood (towards you)?  Ps 119:68  God is good and does good things.  Ps 106:1.

With all the pain in this world, how can God be in a good mood?

There is no bad in him

He’s in the business of restoration – making thing better than before (Rom 8:8, Is. 61:7.

-    God gives good gifts to his children.  I don’t believe that God has mood swings.  He can be angry, hurt and joyful, but he is always coming from the positive position of a good mood. Predisposed or inclined to our good!

1. Thes 5:16: Paul said: “Be joyful always…for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 14:17 “The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit”  Joy is 1/3 of God’s Kingdom!

“God is better than you think, so let’s change the way we think.” — Bill Johnson

“Our spiritual fathers were sincere Christians, but gloomy. What I want is for us to get out of that gloomy groove and experience the joy of knowing Christ.” — Evan Roberts (104-05 Welsh Revival)

Example: pouring water from a bottle into lid…  Bottle = God’s full measure of joy!  Leak on someone next to you!

In God’s presence is a wonderful place to be.

Ephesians 5:18 “Do not be drunk with wine which leads to debauchery, but be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Living:  ”Don’t drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him.”

“be filled” in Greek is a present tense verb and means continually filled every day, everywhere we go.

Examples of Drinking:

Do not be filled with wine, but with the Holy Spirit.
drunk in the Holy Spirit
 Fear goes
 Joy comes
 Boldness

Treasure Hunting: when we start by drinking in the presence of the Lord we find we become so bold and we see the Lord do so much more through us.

Worship: I draw near to Him
Word of God  a door for the Holy Spirit into your life

Prayer: talking with God

Soaking.  Just lie there and ask Him to come near.  Listen.  What is He saying to you?

In Redding: Lord, I want to feel you in my complete arm, not just my hands.  The next two nights I lay in bed and early in the morning he came and rested on me with weight on my arms, my legs my neck and head!  I didn’t try to move.

When we get into His presence, the rest flows!  Success is a day with Him!  Get into His presence people.  He’s worth any price.  His presence will change you and you’ll start leaking the way he wants you to leak.

Examples of Leaking:

The more you give, the more you get.  But it’s not just for you!  Leak him!

Redding: after learning to be drunk in the Spirit: “do you want more of the Holy Spirit” Yes: hit the floor shaking all over…

Healing: I release the Kingdom order on this leg (leg grows out)

The Austrian girl in Redding.  Teaching on how to retain your healing.  Just touched me.  Oh such a gentle presence of the Lord came upon me.  I had just finished thinking and repenting from the thought: don’t they have anybody with experience to teach this stuff?  Repented immediately and go wacked by His presence.  So sweet!  So deep.  Oh so comfortable!

Later with Yad ‘b Yad participants I was able to pray for them in the Jugendforum.  – ended up lying on the floor & pool table in the Lord’s presence!

Gemeindefreizeit (church camp) Feriendorf Sonnenmatte  – as we called out for more of the Lord together, His Presence fell.  Most were shaken by His presence.  I had seen such things before, especially in Brazil.

Joshua S.: I release your presence – Tongues flowed

-     Drinking and leaking last year in Heilbronn.  Such a joy in my heart and I was just worshiping the Lord walking through the pedestrian zone.  I remember watching my feet walking.  And then I felt the presence of the Lord come powerfully upon me as I walked – like in a time of praise and worship in an anointed service.  I lifted my eyes and in from of me was a severely disabled guy.  I wanted to pray for his twisted leg.  But he didn’t want that.  He wanted me to pray for his pain to go.  And it did!

We are to destroy the works of Satan.  We are to bring Heaven to the Earth.
God’s power through earthen vessels.

Why are we here?  Love God.  Drink Him in, leak Him out.  There are needs all around.  The harvest is ripe, but the workers are few.

Be aware of the influence that we have on those around us.

It starts with you and me.  There is something about a place where groups hunger and expect the Lord to show up.  Here about three months ago, the Lord told me very clearly that he wants to show up here in great power.  He is ready and willing.  But there’s something about the group.  There’s something about the body.  We need each other.  He’s waiting with extreme desire for us to desire Him truly first.  He’s passionate about our hearts.   One or two burning for him won’t do.  We each have an important role to play.  If we are hungry for the Lord together.  Out of this experience came what happened at Feriendorf Sonnenmatte.

As Bill Johnson says:  “We must have an encounter, so we can become an encounter, so others can have an encounter.”  (Begegnung)

Summary:

Drinking and leaking are critical to the success of our lives.  But drinking comes first.
God’s ecomomy.

God is good and is in a good mood (towards you)!

The more you give, the more you get.  But it’s not just for you!

Friends, it works.  Drinking Him in and leak him out!  Let us not forget to keep drinking Him in, lest we become distracted in this world and run dry.

When we experience the overflowing joy of the Lord, we can give it away.  You can only give away what you’ve got.

Let’s drink him in worship together!

HOPE  by Reggie Ocampo (20th Oct. 2013)

Psalm 16:9-“Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.”Darum freut sich mein Herz, und meine Seele frohlockt; auch mein Fleisch wird sicher ruhen

Psalm  31:24-Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” Seid getrost und unverzagt, alle, die ihr des HERRN harret!

Psalm 33:18-“Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;” Siehe, des HERRN Auge sieht auf die, so ihn fürchten, die auf seine Güte hoffen

33:22-“Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, just as we hope in You.” Deine Güte, HERR, sei über uns, wie wir auf dich hoffen.

Psalm 119:49-50 49 Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope. 50          This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life. 49 Gedenke deinem Knechte an dein Wort, auf welches du mich lässest hoffen. 50  Das ist mein Trost in meinem Elend; denn dein Wort erquickt mich.

Proverbs / Sprüche 13:12-“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.”Die Hoffnung, die sich verzieht, ängstet das Herz; wenn's aber kommt, was man begehrt, das ist wie ein Baum des Lebens.

10:28-”The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.”Das Warten der Gerechten wird Freude werden; aber der Gottlosen Hoffnung wird verloren sein.

God has called us to hope  Gott hat uns berufen zu hoffen  (Eph.4:4; Heb.7:18-19)

This hope is not just wishful thinking. It is a certain hope, a sure expectation- a "living hope„
Diese Hoffnung ist nicht nur wunschvolles denken.
Es ist ein bestimmte Hoffnung „lebendige Hoffnung“ (I Pet.1:3)

This hope is one of the three essential ingredients to the Christian life…
Diese Hoffnung ist eine der drei nötigen Zutaten für das christliche Leben… (I Cor.13:13)

…for it provides the perspective for our walk with God
…denn es bereitet die Perspektive für unseren Weg mit Gott (Psalm 31:24; Romans 15:4).

"And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit..."

Und diese Hoffnung geht nicht ins Leere. Denn uns ist der Heilige Geist geschenkt, und durch ihn hat Gott unsere Herzen mit seiner Liebe erfüllt. Rom.5:5

In Christ, we have a marvellous hope (Prov.23:18; Jer.29:11; I John 3:2-3) There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. (Prov. 23:18)

In Christus haben wir eine wundervolle Hoffnung. Dann hast du eine gute Zukunft, und deine Hoffnung wird nicht enttäuscht. (Sprüche 23,18)

Things which make up our hope
Dinge welche unsere Hoffnung ausmachen

1. The return of Jesus (Titus 2:13)
„while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,…”

1. Die Rückkehr von Jesus (Titus 2,13)

Denn wir warten darauf, dass sich unsere Hoffnung bald erfüllt: dass unser großer Gott und Retter Jesus Christus in seiner ganzen Herrlichkeit erscheinen wird.

2. The resurrection of our bodies
 (I Cor.15:19-22; I Thess.4:13-18; Phil.3:20-21)

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

2. Die Auferstehung unserer Körper
 (1.Kor.15:19-22; 1.Thess.4:13-18;Phil.3:20-21)

3. A new heaven and a new earth
But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13)

3. Ein neuer Himmel und eine neue Erde

Wir alle aber warten auf den neuen Himmel3 und die neue Erde, die Gott uns zugesagt hat. Wir warten auf diese neue Welt, in der es endlich Gerechtigkeit gibt.

4. Eternal Life    (Titus 1:2; 3:4-7)

1:2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,...3:4-7 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,  7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

4. Ewiges Leben

5. The full glory of God (Colossians 1:27)

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory

Richness God intends for Christian life
Reichtümer die Gott für das christliche Leben beabsichtigt

This hope produces in us the richness of all that God intends for Christian life (read Romans 5:1-5): Diese Hoffnung produziert in uns die Reichtümer die Gott für das christliche Leben beabsichtigt (lese Römer 5,1-5):

1. Faith & Love (Col.1:5; Gal.5:5)

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

1. Glaube & Liebe (Kol. 1,5 ; Gal. 5,5)

Wir aber erwarten im Geist aus Glauben die Hoffnung der Gerechtigkeit

2. Joy & Peace (Rom.15:13)
May the God who gives hope fill you with great joy. May you have perfect peace as you trust in him. May the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.

2. Freude & Frieden (Römer 15,13)

Der Gott der Hoffnung aber erfülle euch mit aller Freude und allem Frieden im Glauben, damit ihr überreich seiet in der Hoffnung durch die Kraft des Heiligen Geistes!

3. Boldness (2 Cor.3:12)

Since we have such a hope, we are very bold,

3. Freimut (2.Korinther 3,12)

Da wir nun eine solche Hoffnung haben, so gehen wir mit großer Freimütigkeit vor

4.Strength (Isa.40:31)
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

4. Stärke (Jesaja 40,31)

aber die auf den Herrn harren, kriegen neue Kraft, daß sie auffahren mit Flügeln wie Adler, daß sie laufen und nicht matt werden, daß sie wandeln und nicht müde werden.

5. Encouragement (2 Thess.2:16-17)

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

5. Ermutigung (2. Thessalonicher 2,16-17)

6. Patience & Endurance (Rom.8:24-25;1 Thess.1:3)

remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

7. Self-Control (Titus 2:12-13)

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

7. Selbstbeherrschung (Titus 2:12-13)

8. Godliness & Holiness (2 Pet.3:10-12)

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

9. Purity (2 Peter 3:14; 1 John 3:2-3)

2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,1 we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

9. Reinheit (2 Petrus 3:14; 1 Johannes 3:2-3)

Hebrews 6:18-19 (also 10:23)      "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure...„Hebräer 6,18-19 (siehe auch 10,23)          „Diese Hoffnung ist für uns wie ein sicherer und fester Anker, der hineinreicht bis ins innerste Heiligtum…“

THE PRINCIPLE OF SPIRITUAL COVERING by Reggie Ocampo (13th Oct. 2013)

 Ps 91:1-2

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord , "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

Wer im Schirm des Höchsten sitzt, wird bleiben im Schatten des Allmächtigen. 2  Ich sage von Jahwe: Meine Zuflucht und meine Burg; mein Gott, auf ihn will ich vertrauen.

Job 1:10 / Hiob 1,10

Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

Hast du nicht selbst ihn und sein Haus und alles, was er hat, ringsum eingezäunt? Du hast das Werk seiner Hände gesegnet, und sein Besitztum hat sich ausgebreitet im Lande.

 > 1 Sam.8:6-7 – But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the Lord . 7 And the Lord  said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. Und das Wort war übel in den Augen Samuels, als sie sprachen: Gib uns einen König, daß er uns richte! Und Samuel betete zu Jahwe. 7  Und Jahwe sprach zu Samuel: Höre auf die Stimme des Volkes in allem, was sie dir sagen; denn nicht dich haben sie verworfen, sondern mich haben sie verworfen, daß ich nicht König über sie sein soll.

4.2. Bad Examples / Schlechtes Beispiel

Miriam questioned Moses‘ authority and was chastised (Numbers 12)

Ø  Symptoms : Spiritual pride

Num 12:2- So they said, "Has the Lord  indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?" And the Lord  heard it.

4.Mose 12,2 – Und sie sprachen: Hat Jahwe nur mit Mose allein geredet? Hat er nicht auch mit uns geredet? Und Jahwe hörte es.

Alexander the Coppersmith harmed Paul

2 Tim 4:14-15 - Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. 15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words.Alexander, der Schmied, hat mir viel Böses erzeigt; der Herr wird ihm vergelten nach seinen Werken. 15  Vor ihm hüte auch du dich, denn er hat unseren Worten sehr widerstanden.

5. Blessing of Covering and Curse of Uncovering

Love covers a multitude of sin whereas malice rejoices in controversy

Liebe bedeckt eine Menge von Sünden während Bosheit jubelt Kontroverse

> Prov 10:12 –“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.”

Patriarchial Blessing or Curse

Gen 9:20-25 And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard. 21 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.24 So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him. 25 Then he said:"Cursedbe Canaan; A servant of servants

Paul lifted the covering

1 Cor 5:4-5

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Be faithful in another man‘s

Luke 16:12

And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own?

Und wenn ihr in dem Fremden nicht treu gewesen seid, wer wird euch das Eurige geben?

6. Revelation is Reality – Rick Joyner (The Journey Begins. New Kensington: Whitaker House, 1997, p.28)
“When the ‘eyes of our hearts’ are opened, we begin to see the things that are eternal. We are no longer bound by time and by the things that are temporal.[…] When we begin to see with the eyes of our hearts instead of just our natural eyes, we do not merely begin to see the things that are eternal, but they become more real to us than the things that are temporary.”

RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST by Reggie Ocampo 31st March 2013

“...and Who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord” - Romans 1:4

Intro: The first Christians went everywhere declaring the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. So dynamic was their message that they “turned the world upside down” in their day (Acts 17:6). Understanding what the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ means for you will dynamically affect your life too.

“...But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God...” - Galatians 3:11
“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” - Jmes 2:10
D. Wages of Sin is Death (Rom.3:23; 6:23)

II. Jesus, the sinless One, Fulfilled the Law (Matthew 5:17)

VII. The Available “Unimaginable” Power toward us who believe
Romans 8:11 , Ephesians 3:20

IIX. Resurrection was a brand new start for Peter (Mark 16:7)

IX. Blessed are those who believe
“Jesus said to him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed.’” - John 20:29

X. Resurrection Power launches the “unbelieving” Disciples in the Great Commission.
- No one believed Jesus was going to rise again. They were hiding and mourning. Jesus reprimanded them (Mark 16:14) but on the next breath commissions them to go (v.15-20)

Conclusion: We do not have an excuse not to live a victorious life. Jesus conquered death and the grave. Let us walk in the revelation of His resurrection power. Jesus is Alive!

Victorious Lord! – 1 Cor 15:55

KINGDOM PRIORITIES by Reggie Ocampo 17th Feb. 2013

Matthew 6:31-33 - Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness
Psalm 90:12 - Teach us to numbers our days so we may gain a heart of wisdom
Proverbs 29:18 - Without vision people perish

APPLYING THE KINGDOM

I. The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without purpose.
- Drifting from one day to the next without purpose, with untapped potential & unfulfilled dreams; this is for many a fate worse than death.
II. The greatest challenge in life is knowing what to do.
- What drive gets you out of bed? With each passing day of us growing older and energy being spent, are we doing what we are supposed to be doing?
III. The greatest mistake in life is being busy, but not effective.
- Being busy is a common human pastime. Busyness doesn’t automatically mean what’s done is worth it.
- Significance has nothing to do with busyness but effectiveness
- Time and energy wasted due to unfocused busyness can never be regained.
IV. The greatest failure in life is being successful in the wrong assignment.
- Commitment and sincerity are very good traits but are not enough to determine “success”. One can be sincerely committed to the wrong cause or assignment.
- Example: Following instructions in an examination is vital.
(Answer odd numbers only but one answered even numbers. Doesn’t matter if all answers are correct)

ESTABLISHING PRIORITIES

Successful people have learned to establish priorities and have lived by them. Establishing priorities means ranking everything in order of importance, determining which is most important, and then focusing our time, attention, and energy there. It is a matter of putting first things first.
Success boils down to the issue of how efficiently and effectively we use our time.
Success in life is the effective use of time.
- Time is the true measure of life.
- Time is the true currency of life. Currency is the medium of exchange to purchase goods and services (i.e. money).
- Time purchases (exchange) life.
- How do we spend our time?
- God is not impressed with busyness.
- The only way to live effectively is to use your time on the correct priorities for your life. Some priorities may be good but not necessarily correct.

THE PRIORITY OF PRIORITY

1. Correct priority preserves and protects life.
- What is life? Time. What is priority? Doing the right thing at the right time in the right way.
- Preserves life because it saves from doing the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong way.
2. Correct priority is the principle of progress.
- Progress is not by how much is done but how much we get done in the right direction. (i.e. planning your trip)
- Kingdom of God first!
3. Correct priority protects time.
- Knowing and doing what is most important helps us avoid abusing time and wasting that precious currency.
4. Correct priority protects energy.
- We can afford to exert our energy with confidence because we know we are using it effectively, correctly, and for the right purpose.
- We should strive not to be busy but to be correct.
5. Correct priority protects talents and gifts
- Avoid expending talents and energy on unimportant and unworthy endeavours.
- Correct priorities is God’s priorities. That is Kingdom first !
6. Correct priority also protects decisions
- Once we know our priorities, decision making is made simpler. One knows what should be done.
7. Correct priority protects discipline
- People without priorities are undisciplined and shoot in every direction.
- Priorities brings focus.
8. Correct priorities simplify life
- Jesus lived a “simple” life because He knew His purpose and priority in life.
- He came to please the Father and bring the Kingdom of God.

THE SEARCH OF GOD by  Reggie Ocampo 10 Feb. 2013

Intro:
-  Queensland Tourism (July 2009) searched for the best qualified person to have the “Best Job in the World.” Their website crashed with the number of applicants. Ben Southall won.
-  Cinderella story: Prince charming is looking for the “perfect foot” for the shoe.
-  Ever since the fall of man, God has been searching.

- Jehu asked who was with him and against Jezebel.

Ps 34:15-16
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

5. God is looking for a man after His heart who will do His will. He will be greatly loved by the Lord and he shall rule.
Gott sucht einen Mann nach seinem Herzen, der seinen Willen ausführen wird. Er wird vom Herrn sehr geliebt, und er wird regieren.
1 Sam 13:14
The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart,…

John 4:23-24
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

7. God is looking for a grateful person. He/She will experience healing and wholeness.
Gott sucht eine dankbare Person. Er/Sie wird Heilung und Ganzheit erfahren.
Luke 17:15-19
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" 19 And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well."

8. God is looking for the prodigal son to return. He will be restored.

9. God is looking for somebody he can send to proclaim His word. He will be God’s representative.

Gott sucht jemanden den er senden kann um sein Wort zu verkünden.
Er wird Gottes Representant sein.

Isaiah 6:8
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

- May God’s search be fulfilled in our lives. Let us be found by the Lord.

Making this Year Count by Reggie Ocampo January 2013

Ephesians 4:17-19 – “And so I insist — and God backs me up on this — that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. 18 They've refused for so long to deal with God that they've lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. 19 They can't think straight anymore. Feeling no pain, they let themselves go in sexual obsession, addicted to every sort of perversion.” (the Message Bible)

Intro:
- God has been so good to us in 2012 and we are grateful to Him. However, we believe that this year will be better and a breakthrough-filled year. Let us be determined not to let this year just come and go but let us fulfill our God-given destiny.
- “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” – Antonie de Saint – Exupery
- Col 4:17-„And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."
- 2 Tim 4:5- „But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

1. Four “R’s” to be on the right track

1.1. Remember and recognize the grace of God
- We recall the abundant blessings He has given to us and constantly offer him praise with a grateful heart.
- Our boast is in the Lord and not in our own ability and strength.
- 1 Peter 5:5 -„God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble“ (James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5)
- Psalm 103:2- „Bless the Lord oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits.“ ( Psalm 103:2)
- 1 Cor.15:10 - „But by the grace of God, I am what I am...“

1.2. Resolve to establish right priorities
- In order to avoid many urgent matters that cause a lot of stress, let us pay attention to what is important in life (some urgent visits to the doctor could have been avoided if the important things such as healthy eating habits and physical exercise were given priority).
- Our values define what is important to us (which is more valuable to you, your family or your hobby?)
- Important persons/things/matters in our lives get (ought to) high level of priority in our agenda.
- Values -> Important -> Priority
- We celebrate our values.
- Are you driven by the urgent or do you drive according to what is important?
- Proverbs 3:9 – „Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase.“
- Priorities reflect what is in our heart.
- “If there’s a will there’s a way. If there’s no will, there’s an excuse.”

1.3. Repent from “dead works”
- “Dead works” may mean false belief/conviction that do not lead (or contribute) to salvation.
- We’ll have to evaluate what we do and stop those that are “time-consuming but not life-producing.”
- Repent of bad habits and sinful lifestyle. It’s time to get right with God.
- Break the cycle of defeat.
- Hebrews 6:1-“…not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works…”

1.4. Reach godly goals
- “God is a God of plan, purpose, design, and objectivity.” - Morris Cerullo
- Jesus didn’t come to earth because he was bored. He had a definite purpose and He knew it. He was focused on accomplishing his mission.
- Luke 9:51-52 –“The time was coming closer for Jesus to be taken to heaven. So he was determined to go to Jerusalem. “
- 1 John 3:8 –“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. “
- John 17:4-5 –“I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. “
- John 12:27 –"Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour. “
- Mark 1:38 –“But He said to them, "Let us go into the next towns that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth."
- Do you have any goals for this year or are you just going to coast along?
- “If you do not know where you are going, then any road will lead you there.” – Henry Kissinger

2. Opposing Values : Four contrary “P’s”
- The worldly system puts much value on: (A) possession (B) power (C) pleasure (D) prestige
- Such worldly values shape what is important to them and define their priorities.
- 1 John 2:15-17-„Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
- Although we need money (possession), rest and recreation (pleasure), dignity (power and prestige) as believers, we should not allow these worldly values to get the best of our time and energy. As the saying goes, “we eat to live not live to eat.”

- Defining what is really important - Kingdom of God Values:

2.1. Person of Christ
- Instead of material possession, we consider knowing Christ as great gain.
- Phil 3:10 „that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death”
- John 17:3 –“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

2.2. Presence of the Lord
- We take pleasure in the presence of the Lord and not in the lusts of the flesh.
- Ps.122:1 – „I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord‘.“
- Ps 51:11 -“Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

2.3. Pure Heart
- Real beauty is from within and we esteem those who walk in holiness. They are prestigious in our sight.
- Instead of striving for man’s approval, it is God’s favor we seek after.
- Integrity – “steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code; the state of being unimpaired; soundness; the quality of being whole or undivided; completeness”
- Ps 51:10 -“Create in me a clean heart oh God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

2.4. Purposes of God
- We are powerful when we are on our “element”. Being in the perfect will of God and moving in God’s purposes energizes us.
- We live fulfilled lives when we are doing and accomplishing that which we were designed for.
- The will of God has eternal value.
- Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Conclusion:
- Let us reject the imposition of worldly values upon us and be clear headed about what are the real important matters in life, those that are based on the values of the kingdom of God.
- Let us avoid being stressed out by urgent matters by identifying and doing what is important.
- Values define what is important.
- Important determines priority
- Priority reveals the heart.
- “Even if you win the rat race, you’re still a rat.” – Jonathan David
- Matthew 16:26- “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole wolrd, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

MESSIAH by Reggie Ocampo, 9. Dec. 2012

Isa 9:6 – „For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.“

Unto us – personal level; not something ethereal or far away
God is interested with us / you
More than statistics or numbers

Child is born – introduction is very important; first impressions last
Not as a dictator but a humble, ‘vulnerable’, and comely child
The Lord’s blessings to us many times come in “small packages”; we are expecting grand entrances and the Hollywood style production effects that we miss out on the blessings.
Demonic attempts (Pharaoh – Moses; Herod – Baby Jesus) to stop God’s agenda in our lives.

Son is given – Trinity
He gave His only Son (John 3:16)
God is a generous giving God – He gave His Son and not an angel

Government shall rest on His shoulders
Servant – unlike those who put heavy yoke on people and do not lift a finger
Jesus came not to be served but to serve
He ministers to us as he carry and lift our burdens
Ruler – our God is not a “push-over” but He will judge the living and the dead
He sits on the throne and is never in panic
Jesus is the righteous judge. The God of justice.

His Name shall be called
God is a Person, not a force or idea
Name speak of character, nature, and ministry

Wonderful (pele from paalaa = to separate, to distinguish, to make great)
Outstanding, Excellent – He stands out
Never a dull moment , everything from his humility, sorrows, miraculous works to ascension excites wonder and amazement
God of miracles

Counselor (yoweets)
All knowing God
The God of wonderful counsel (Septuagint)
He knows the way
He became man and fully understands

Mighty God
Nothing is too difficult for Him

Everlasting Father = “The Father of the everlasting age”
Jesus’ union with the Father
The man abiding forever
All that is eternal is of and from Him
Father – Hebrew term for Strength; stability

Prince of Peace (Sar shaalowm) – Prince of Prosperity, the Giver of all Blessings
Contrast to blood thirsty dictators
Peace – proper balance and equilibrium of the entire person
First source of peace – reconciled with God, no longer as enemies
Peace within oneself – no condemnation; restored in the original

Phil 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Let the peace of God rule in your hearts (Col.3:15)

ONE THING by Reggie Ocampo, 04.11.12

Introduction:
- The headlines in the post super storm Sandy: “Severe Weather is now the New Normal.” This tells us that we are living in a “different time”; Times have change.

- We are living “perilous times” (2 Tim.3:1-5) where people have a “form of godliness” but have no power (“dunamis” in Greek = dynamite; explosive power). In our days of unprecedented evil where immorality, perversion, and blasphemy are the order of the day, we need Holy Spirit power to overcome (Acts 1:8)

- How? God simplified the answer just as leader’s are taught to make vision, mandate, goal, mission simple enough for the followers to remember, repeat, and do.
- “Schma Israel” – Deut.6:4-5

  • Jesus simplified the commandments (Mt.22:37-40)

Love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength
Love your neighbor ; just like the first commandment
On these hang all the laws and prophecies
1st Commandment in the Decalogue – you shall have no other god (Ex.20:3)

  • David’s determined desire (Ps.27)

Despite the threats from his enemies
His utmost desire is to be in the Lord’s presence

  • Mary chose the best part – the one thing that is needed (Lk.10:42)

There are many cares of this world that distracts us from the “one thing”
Needed – being with the Lord is a necessity

  • Paul pursuit of the one thing (Phil 3:7-14)

Past laurels shouldn’t slow us down in our pursuit of knowing the Lord
Paul’s singleness of purpose of pressing on in knowing Christ and fulfilling His destiny.

  • Blind man’s unshakeable testimony (John 9:1-7, 25)

Power encounter with the Lord was “one thing” the blind man was sure of despite the doubter’s interrogation.

  • Rich man misses the one thing (Lk 18:18-22)

Despite his religiosity, he missed the one thing
His attachment to money was stronger than love for God

Conclusion:
Let us focus on the one thing which is to seek the Lord’s face, wait upon Him, and pursue His will and purposes in our lives.
One thing is Needful – Love the Lord God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.

SALT OF THE EARTH, Don’t Lose Your Flavor - Reggie Ocampo                 (21. Okt. 2012)

„You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.“ - Mt. 5:13

Intro: Have you ever gone to see a movie because you were impressed by the trailer only to be bored to sleep? How about buying a high-tech product only to be bogged down because it doesn‘t deliver? In short, the product doesn‘t live up to marketing promise. Hopefully we Christians do not fall short on the supposed impact we are to deliver to our generation.

1. Salt permeates
Ø Great Commission is to go and not to stay isolated (Matthew 28:19-20)
Ø We are to engage the culture (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
Ø Segments of society: Religion, Politics, Education, Media, Sports, Business, Arts & Entertainment

2. Salt heals
Ø God heals the broken hearted (Ps 147:3, Is.61:1, Luke 4:18-19)
Ø Jesus sends us as He was sent (John 20:21)
Ø Healing and miracles occurred in the ministry of the apostles (Acts 5:12)

3. Salt preserves
Ø Pray for one another (James 5:16)
Ø Bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2)
Ø Keep the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:)
Ø We fight for what God has established like marriage, family, biblical values, godly tradition etc (1 Tim. 6:12, 2 Thessalonians 3:6)
Ø Intercessors stand in the gap to avert judgment
· Abraham interceded for Sodom (Genesis 18:24-33)
· Moses interceded for Israel
Ø It kills the bad and enhances the good

4. Salt causes thirst
Ø Joshua stayed at the tabernacle after Moses spoke to God (Exodus 33:11)
Ø Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah’s anointing (2 Kings 2:9)
Ø Peter’s sermon caused people to ask “What shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)
Ø Early church grew as they found favor with the people (Acts 2:46-47)
5. Salt gives flavor ; is salty
Ø It’s influence is unmistakable; Christians turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6)
Ø Christians are to be relevant – Paul’s message connected to the hearers (Acts 17:22-23)
Ø Christianity causes joy and not bland boring lifeless religion (Acts 8:7-8; 13:52)

HOW TO KEEP THE FLAVOR
„But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out said, ‘Alas, master! For it was borrowed.’” - 2 Kings 6:5
a. Passion for Jesus – First Love – Rev.2:4
b. Abide in the Word – John 15
c. Fellowship with those who are in love with the Lord – Heb.10:24-25
d. Evangelize – Parable of the Talents – Matt.25:21,29

Conclusion: Intimacy with Jesus will keep us “salty” enabling us to make an impact to the world we live in. Don’t lose your cutting edge.

The Missional Church by Reggie Ocampo (23. Sept. 2012)

What Song do you sing? Que Sera Sera or I have a Destiny

- It was a nice song that Dorris Day sang but that’s typical of Hollywood. As for the Church of Jesus Christ, we know who holds the future and we have a mandate to enforce His kingdom rule. Our song is “I have a Destiny!”
- We are not a result of chance or coincidence that evolved from a blob, rather we have been created by a God of plan, purpose, and design.
- Couch potato or active participant?
- Proverbs 29:18- “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint.”
- 1 Cor.9:24-27- “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it…Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection…”

Orientation
WHY DO WE EXIST?

- To glorify God and to reveal His glory (Psalm 150:6, Matthew 4:10).
- We were made for God’s pleasure.
WHO ARE WE?
- Sons/Daughters of God (John 1:12; 15:19, 2 Peter 1:3-4)
- God’s Nature (DNA) is in us. We are empowered by His grace to live holy lives.
- We are priests with Royalty. We live not according to the standard of the world.
WHAT ARE WE TO DO?
- Love God and tell others of the Good News (Matthew 22:37-40)
- The first and greatest commandment encapsulates all the commandments.
- We need to regain our sense of purpose and sense of mission.
HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?
- Being a Disciple and Making Disciples (Matthew 28:19-20)
- A Disciple is a Follower of Christ, not just a Fan.

Disciples’ W.I.F.E.
- Based from the early Church (Acts 2:42-47), there are at least four areas that disciples of Christ should cover.

WORSHIP (John 4:23-24)
- They continued in prayers. We were made to connect and communicate with the Lord.

INSTRUCTION (John 15:10, 2 Tim.2:15)
- They continued in the Apostles doctrine.
- A disciple has a firm foundation – hearing and doing the words of the Lord (Matt.7:24-25).

FELLOWSHIP (Eph.2:19, Heb.10:24-25)
- They continued in fellowship and in the breaking of bread.
- A disciple actively participates in the body of Christ and does not forsake the assembly.

EVANGELISM (Matt.28:19-20)
- Acts 8:4 – “Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.”
- The Great Commission, not the great suggestion. It is a mandate/a command from Jesus before He ascended into heaven.

More than LEGO
- Each Lego piece has been made to connect. Some can connect to only one piece while others can connect with many more.
- We have been made to connect with God and with others.
- Jesus connected with twelve men, discipling them.

Operation “Thunderbolt”
- Operation Entebbe was a counter-terrorist hostage-rescue mission carried out by commandos of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at Entebbe Airport in Uganda on 4 July 1976.[3] A week earlier, on 27 June, an Air France plane with 248 passengers was hijacked, by terrorists of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the German Revolutionary Cells, and flown to Entebbe, near Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The hijackers separated the Israelis and, according to some, Jews from the larger group and forced them into another room. The operation took place at night. Israeli transport planes carried 100 commandos over 2,500 miles (4,000 km) to Uganda for the rescue operation. The operation, which took a week of planning, lasted 90 minutes. 102 hostages were rescued. Five Israeli commandos were wounded and one, the commander, Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu, was killed. All the hijackers, three hostages and 45 Ugandan soldiers were killed, and thirty Soviet-built MiG-17s and MiG-21s of Uganda's air force were destroyed.[12] 24 hours later, a fourth Israeli hostage was killed[13][14] by Ugandan army officers at a nearby hospital.[15] (Wikipedia)
- We are commandos of the kingdom of God with a mission to rescue hostage souls.

COUNTING THE COST by Reggie Ocampo - 2nd. Sept. 2012
Text: Luke 14:25-35
Intro:

- Prominent evangelist Julio Ruibal (42) was gunned down on a Cali, Colombia, street Dec.13 en route to a meeting of the city’s pastoral association. He received daily death threats. Police believed a local drug dealer leader is behind the killing.
- Pastor Menes Abdul Noor of Cairo receives regular death threats from public officials themselves.
- Christian radio evangelist and his companion shot dead in a Zamboanga radio station.

I. Salvation is free but discipleship costs everything
A. No other gods / Isaacs must be offered - hate father, mother... his own life
- Idolatry- anything or anyone that gets the best of our time, energy, emotion, & passion; whatever is in competition with God in our hearts.
B. Consider first the price before committing
1. Persecution & Rejection
Acts 20:22-23 "And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,"except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and ribulations await me.
2. Life of Prayer (& Fasting)
C. Be Ready to Change > Time for Radical Christianity
Ps 55:19-”...because they do not change, therefore they do not fear God”
1. Change of Lifestyle (rid ourselves of worldliness)
John 17:16-”They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”
2. Standard of Morality Lifted Up
a. Bitterness (Matthew 5:21-26) b. Adultery (27-30) c. Laws on Divorce (31-32)

II. Men of God who paid the price
A. Moses - Heb 11:24-27-By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
B. Peter- John 21:18-19-"Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
C. Paul- Acts 20:22-23-"And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,"except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains & tribulations await me.

III. Don’t Look Back (read Luke 9:57-62)
A. Lot’s Wife (Genesis 19:26)
B. Demas forsook Paul (2 Timothy 4:10)
C. Dog returns to its vomit (Prov.26:11; 2 Peter 2:22)

IV. There’s a Price in Raising up Disciples / Be ready for frustration in relationships
A. Barnabbas kept on ministering to John Mark (Acts 15:36-41; 2 Tim.4:11)

V. Level of Commitment is congruent to the Level of Investment.
A. Paul bore the marks of the Lord Jesus
Gal 6:17-”From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
B. Paul committed so much to the Lord
2 Tim 1:12-”For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

VI. How much has christianity cost us?
- David bought the field of Araunah for a price (2 Samuel 24:18-25)

Conclusion:
Jesus gave us His all, let’s give Him our all.
- We haven’t even resisted unto bloodshed.(Hebrews 12:3)

How to Live your New Identity (Simon Bate) 19th August 2012

Introduction
We‘ve heard many times:
We need to know who we are in Christ in order to live well..., and
„...be transformed by the renewing of your mind“ (Rom 12:2)
But reading about our identity once doesn‘t do it; how do you practically go about renewing your mind anyway?
Why is it essential to know who you are anyway?

Why do we need to know who we are in Christ?
Identity is like a passport. What and who are you associated with? E.g. Engineer, musician, wife, mother, father...
Your understanding/revelation of who you are will determine how you will live every day
If you don‘t know who you are, you‘ll live way below your potential – your faith (life) will be crippled. Feelings of unworthiness rob us of power. This is the devil‘s strategy of encouraging us to believe the lie that we are failures.
Truth is: alone in your own efforts you are unworthy, but through faith in the risen Christ you are made worthy! Do not deny the work Jesus Christ did for you on the cross!

As we trusted Christ for our lives, the old identity died and we put on Jesus Christ‘s identity. It‘s not about following rules (10 commandments) anymore. God wants you to know how much he loves you and has put you in right relationship with Him – so that out of the overfow you can live a life of power, peace, contentment & compassion. Law (legalism) vs. Grace (Eph 2:14-16)
The old is gone: Col 2 v13-14. Rom 3:22-24 Eph 1:7-8 Rom 8:1-4
The new you: Col 2:9-10 „For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.“

2 Cor 5:17-21: In Christ we are a new creation
Rom 6:3-11: Baptised into death & raised with Christ in resurrection
Yet I don‘t feel different, you say. What has really changed? From God‘s viewpoint (i.e. the ultimate angle) we instantly changed from being „out of Christ“ (dead) to being „in Christ“ (alive). But it takes much longer for a Christian to learn about it – and even longer for him/her to accept what he/she become! See yourself as God sees you!
Our old identity was based on how well we measure up to His standard. Our new identity is not based on us, but on His grace & His acceptance.

Being saved alone is not enough. God wants us to come into maturity in faith and make a difference for good on this earth.
We are to live with the expectation of bringing God‘s Kingdom to Earth. The Kingdom of God is in and among us now.

Why do we need to renew our mind?

Just by being saved doesn‘t bring much fruit. We need to put work & effort into renewing our minds & saturating them with scripture. Until you renew your mind, the world & your flesh are still going to control you because your mind is greatly influenced by the flesh & the world. Recognise that your mind has control over every one of your actions.

Finding your Identity
Know where to find it (the Bible). Some Examples:
You are loved tenderly, powerfully and eternally by God
You are seated with Christ. Where is Jesus sitting? At the right hand of God the Father. Speaks of a position of great authority (Mark 16:19)
Jesus is the first born Son of God. As a follower of Jesus you have become God‘s child through Jesus death & resurrection. Therefore you are also a son of God (Rom 8:14-21) You are an heir with Christ. The same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in you God‘s Holy Spirit. You have access to the same power, if you believe. Meditate on Romans 8.

Only God can heal the sick. Gen 1:27 God created man in his own image. You are a son of God. You are a god. You were born a little lower than the angels. Now angels serve you! Your daddy is God! And He gives the best gifts to his children.
You‘ve been set free to choose to sin or not to sin. It‘s now your choice. Before you were slaves to sin. Yet if the old mind is not constantly trained and disciplined you will sin.

You‘ve been put into right standing with God through Jesus.
God, angels, devil and creation know who you are! It‘s only you who doesn‘t know! Also all creation was cursed with the fall. The Gospel is also for creation (Rom 8:15-17,21) Creation is still under a curse until we know who we are (Gen 1:26-28)
Be an imitator of God (Eph 5). Creation is waiting for you to get it
Jesus‘ prayer for you „Father, the glory you gave me I want you to give to them“ (John 17 v20-23). The devil wanted to be like what you have become! God took away the devil‘s power and sent him to Earth to watch people become like God. We will step on his head and eventually God will send him to the lake of fire.
If you‘re under attack and you run, the devil chases you. Do you have a problem or do you have a miracle?

You are God‘s greatest creation; You were made to do even greater works than Jesus (John 14:12)
You are loved and loveable
Your spirit will live eternally even though your body is mortal
Creative. We have a creative God and we were made in His image
Today you know who you are!

How to Renew your Mind
A doctor is the US studied the mental health of three groups seminary stundents at a University several years ago.
Group A: high level mental heath & maturity
Group B: normal level mental heath & maturity
Group C: psychological conflict & emotional pain

Those seminary students who had been believers for many years were not significantly heathier or happier than those who had accepted Christ in the past one or two years. The deciding factor of difference was meditation on Scripture. Students who practised almost daily for three years or longer were significantly heathier & happier than those who did not daily do this.

 Experencing the abundant fruit-filled life of faith rather than bitterness, depression and anxiety is dependent upon a renewing of the mind through „washing“ in the Word of God.

It takes hard work everyday. A lifestyle. It‘s a process that doesn‘t happen in one day!
Search the Bible or parts that are relevant for you today. E.g. Identity, the promises of God, God‘s nature & truth...

A renewed mind is a mind saturated with Scripture.
Meditate on who the Bible says you are in Christ. Read & memorise scripture. Read it, re-read it, underline it („washing of the Word“). It has been said that the only book that Smith Wiggelsworth ever read was the Bible. What a life of power! Begin in finding out what Jesus did for you. Explore it till you believe it, accept it, act on it. Eventually the conflict between your daily experience & the tremendous promises of God will drive you to pray to God to get the freedoms --> hunger -->

God‘s Word diagnoses (Heb 4:12), washes (Eph 5:26) and gives life (Gen 1, Matt 4:4) to our minds & ultimately our whole being when we meditate on it, study it, memorise it and pray it with an open heart, applying it specifically to our needs and struggles.
Remind yourself regularly of your identity according to the Word of God
App for smartphone reminding you to turn your thoughts to your maker
Think about what is noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy (Php 4:8)

Do you dwell on past hurts & pains? Learn what you can and then move on.
Decide what and who you will listen to and who and what you will ignore. Make space in your life for God. Prioritise Him! ≅50% of our wake hours are spent consuming some form of secular media. TV, music, magazines, newspapers, internet, radio, signs, advertising... Be deliberate in your decision to monitor your thinking.

Start the day with a prayer of thankfulness and surrender the the Lord. Ask His Holy Spirit to clothe you in power before you do anything else. This act also sets your mind & priorities right for the day. Agree with God‘s promises in prayer. Break the cycle of negativity. Pray in accordance with His perfect will, which assures us that we are being heard & our requests granted (1 John 5:14-15)

Recognise negative thoughts and lies (2 Cor 10:3-6)
Cast down all negative thoughts and lies with praise for our Lord – even & especially when we don‘t feel like it. (Take captive every thought... & make it obedient to Christ). Slow down to identify negativity in your mind (attitudes).

According to a secular website I found: „Your mind is obedient to what you say or do and it is a witness to your positive & negative thoughts. You are the potter molding the clay of your mind. Your mind is a guide to your future“ Well the paraphrased Word of God says in Pr 23:7 „As a person thinks in his heart, that‘s who he or she becomes“. As believers let us ask the true potter (God) to form the clay of our minds! Be always alert. Pay attention to the thoughts & pictures of your mind. Be aware of mood swings

Worship and pray. Worship & pray scripture back to the Lord & remind Him of His promises.

Spend time regularly with friends who build you up. Practise your gifts with a community of faith – each using his/her gifts

Read books like „The Battlefield of the Mind“ by Joyce Meyer and have the discipline to apply what you read. It‘s not enough to have all the books. We need to read and apply the lessons

Look for a spiritual mentor (may be only for a short time)

Daily, willingly give God permission to walk through you & expose anything that‘s not of faith (e.g. Ps 19:12-13 / Ps 139:23-24).

Remember that God loves you hugely (the ultimate Father) – so you can trust & rely on Him regardless of what He shows you.

Deny yourself on the inside continually. Will to set aside your own „justified“ feelings or your own rights, frustrations, offenses & anything else that is not of faith. Choose to do His will instead. Ask yourself: am I really more concerned with doing God‘s will in my life than my own short-term happiness?

Be willing to lay down everything and do it God‘s way (father, mother, wife, children...)
Obey

At those times when you do sin, talk to Jesus about it immediately. Ask him to help you analyse why you did it, what are the circumstances that bring it on? What steps can you take to stop it in the future? Repeat this over & over again. It‘s not a one-time thing. It‘s a lifestyle.

Summary
If you don‘t know who you are, you‘ll live way below your potential. Find out who you are from the Bible & renew you mind in accordance by:
Daily meditation on Scripture: meditate, study, memorise, pray it, apply it to your struggles
Think about what is noble, pure, lovely... (Php 4:8)
Don‘t dwell on past hurts & pains
Decide what to listen to & what to ignore
Prioritise God in your life (make space for Him)
Be alert analysing thoughts constantly to recognise negativity / lies
Cast down negative thoughts with praise & worship
Spend time with uplifting friends & practise gifts in a community of faith
Find a spiritual mentor
Regularly ask God to show you what is not of Him in your life
Deny yourself and obey
If you sin, talk to Jesus about it immediately and ask Him to help you identify preventative steps to stop it from happening again.

FAITH AND REALITY (
Reggie Ocampo) 22.07.2012

2 Cor 4:16-18 –“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Thesis / Proposition:
• There are different levels or dimensions of reality.
 Physical and Spiritual dimensions
• There are different ways of perceiving and accessing such realities.
 Physical senses
 Faith
• These realities can be experienced.
 “Reality” is more real when it is not just theoretical but experiential.
• The level of reality is not the same.
 The physical is temporary whereas spiritual matters are eternal.
• The greater dimension overshadows the lesser reality
 The power of the Kingdom of God overcomes the law of sin and death operating in the natural dimension.

I. The Different Dimensions

Matt 16:19 –„And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

1. The Physical Dimension
• The realm of the flesh (outward man) is accessed and experienced by the physical senses.
• It is temporary (is perishing)
• For most part, dominated by the works of darkness
John 18:36 –„Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."

2. The Spiritual Dimension
• The unseen dimension is genuine but not perceived by everyone
2 Kings 6:16-18 –“So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD , I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
• Born again Christians are allowed to see the kingdom (John 3:3)
 Inner man
• Faith – essential element to perceive and access the spiritual dimension
Heb 11:1 – „Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
6 – „But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. “
• Lack of faith doesn’t nullify the existence and reality of the spiritual dimension
 Illustration: Radio and TV signals are not visible to the human eye but they are very real. One needs the proper equipment such as Satellite dish, receiver, digital TV etc., to receive the signals.

3. The Locked-Up or Overlapped Dimension
• Kingdom of God (rule of God) manifesting
Luke 11:20 –„But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.”
John 14:9-10 –„Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?”
John 1:14 –„And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. “
• A physical body prepared for God’s glory
Heb 10:5-7 –„Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me. 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure. 7 Then I said, 'Behold, I have come — In the volume of the book it is written of Me — To do Your will, O God.'
• Now – Present Experience

II. The element of Faith
1. The origin of faith

Rom 10:17 –„So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
 The nature of the Word
John 6:63 –„It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. “
 The eternal dimension (Heaven and earth shall pass away but the word remains -
 Faith, hope, and love abide ( 1 Cor.13:13)
2. The nature of faith
• Faith is real (“Der Glaube aber ist eine Wirklichkeit…”) – Heb.11:1
• Faith is now
• Faith is the substance of things hoped for
 Not empty or something imagined
• Evidence of things not seen – proves the reality of the unseen
• Weapon
Eph 6:16 –„above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. “
3. The result of faith
• Accesses the spiritual dimension (Hebrews 11:1)
• Positions one to benefit the spiritual blessings (James 1:6)
• Pleases God (Hebrews 11:6)
• Victory

III. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego – Men of Faith and Reality (Daniel 3:14-30)
1. They recognized the physical dimension (v.18)
• They considered the possibility of dying on the fiery furnace
• They had sober minds and didn’t live in denial.
2. They were men of faith who perceived a higher dimension (v.16-18)
• They saw Life instead of death
John 8:51 –“Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death."
• Perception of the spiritual dimension made them resolute
3. They lived in and manifested the “locked-up” dimension (v.24-25)
• A greater dimension overshadowed a lesser dimension
• A greater reality took over
• The fire of God made the fire of Nebuchadnezzar cold.
4. They fought, and won, the good fight of faith

IV. The Reality and the Challenge

1. Believer’s position in Christ – seated in heavenly places
Eph 2:6 –“and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
2. Renewing of the mind – Set your mind on things above
Col 3:1-2- “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. “
3. Ascend and remain in the higher dimension
Gal 5:16 –“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
Rev 4:1 –“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this."
Rev 11:12 –“And they* heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ‘Come up here.’And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.“

• Personal experiences

Conclusion:
• We do not deny the challenges and difficulties of this present physical world. We are not to be “spooky-spiritual” who live in denial.
• Being born again in the Spirit and being in union with the Holy Spirit, we are called to walk in the spirit. We have access to the heavenly dimension.
• The church is God’s technology to bring down (download) the spiritual dimension and lock it up with the physical dimension.
• The rule and reign of the kingdom of God is present now through the men and women of faith.

NO COMPROMISE  (Reggie Ocampo) 15.07.2012

1 Cor 5:6-7
Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

Definition:
Compromise – as noun: an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions
as a verb: settle a dispute by mutual concession

Positive sense:
· Conflict resolution
· Diplomacy, Politics,
· Business, Family
Ø There are circumstances and times we should and must compromise. Not to do so is arrogance.

Fatal:
· Profit at the expense of safety (sub-standard structures; public transportation)
· Convenience or security

Areas that cannot be compromised:
· Relationship and commitment to God
Ø Command is to love God with ALL of heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut.6:4f)
· God’s Word as opposed to man’s opinion

Dangerously subtle
· Lowering of God‘s standard to accommodate the worldly culture and be accepted by men
Ø Colossians 1:10
Ø 2 Cor.1:20
Ø Rev. 22:19
Ø Prov.29:25
Ø Daniel 1:8

Compromise is a decision; an act of man’s free-will:
· There no one to blame but self
· One can repent
· One can reverse it

Sad Examples
· Samson (Judges 16) – lost the anointing and he didn’t realize it
· King Saul (1 Sam 15) – profit and glory of man instead of God’s favor
· Solomon who had 1000 women learned to worship in pagan temples

Godly Men
· Joseph resisted the seduction of Potiphar’s wife. He fled youthful lusts (2 Tim 2:22)
· Daniel purposed in his heart not to be defiled by the king’s delicacies
· Shadrach, Meschach, and Abed-Nego refused to bow down at the golden idol (Dan.3:16-18)

Danger Zone:
· Repeated compromise dulls one’s spiritual senses
Ø 1 Tim 4:2
· Credibility is lost
Ø James 2:19f

God is Able
· God is faithful in giving us the grace not to compromise
Ø Phil 1:6

WHY EVANGELIZE ? (R.Ocampo) 24.06.2012

Intro: Present statistics, 254 babies are born every minute.
- Jesus’ “last words” before He ascended to heaven is the “Great Commission” and not the great suggestion (Matthew 28:19-20).

I. What is the State of Man ? – Lost … Sinner (unclean)
Isa 53:6-“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”(KJV)
Isa 64:6-“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”(KJV)
Rom 3:23-“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”(KJV)
(also Jeremiah 17:3, Psalm 53:3)

II. What is Sin ?
- Transgression (neglect) of Divine Law; An offense or revolt against God; Iniquity (Webster dictionary)
A. Consequence of Sin – Separation from God
Ps 66:18-“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”(KJV)
Isa 59:2-“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”(KJV)
B. What is sin in the sight of God? – Hateful
Deut 25:16-“For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.”(KJV)
Ps 5:4-“ You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.”(NIV)

III. What happens to a sinner? Where is he bound to? - Death (not only physical but also spiritual)
Prov 11:19-“The truly righteous man attains life, but he who pursues evil goes to his death.”(NIV)
Rom 5:12-“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—“(NAS)
Rom 6:23-“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Mark 9:43-44-“And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”(KJV)
Mark 9:43-44-“If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- 44 "where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'(NKJ)

IV. What did God do? – He sent a Savior – only ONE (John 3:16)
Acts 4:12-"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved."(NAS)
1 Tim 2:5-6-“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.(KJV)

VI. Who took our judgment? – Jesus our substitute
1 Pet 3:18-“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,”(NIV)

VII. How are we saved? – Faith and not by our own works
Eph 2:8-9-“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--9 not by works, so that no-one can boast.”(NIV)
John 1:12-“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—“(NIV)

VIII. What did He command us to do? – Go and preach the Gospel
Matt 10:8-“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”(KJV)

Mark 16:15-“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
(KJV)
Luke 24:47-48-“ and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 "You are witnesses of these things. (NAS)
(also John 20:21, Matthew 16:18-19 )

IX. What is our responsibility ? – We are accountable to God for the souls we had the chance and influence to preach the gospel to.
> Read Ezekiel 33:1-7

Rom 10:14-15-“How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!"
(NAS)

X. What is the Price? – Persecution

John 15:20-“Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.”
(NIV)

XI. What is the Prize?- favor from the Lord and the joy of leading a soul to Christ

Matt 25:21-“His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'(NKJ)

1Thes 2:19-20-“For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?20 For you are our glory and joy.(NKJ)

Conclusion:
> Let us redeem the time and share the Gospel to as much people as we can.
- “Ships are safe in the harbor but that is not the reason they were made for”
- “Souls at any price, souls under any circumstance.” – Charles G.Finney
- “Give me Scotland or I die.” – John Knox
- Persecutions should not intimidate us, souls are at stake.

Are you Over-or Under-Challenged ? (6th May) - Reggie Ocampo

1 Cor 10:13 (The Message Bible)
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help you come through it.

Intro: News and Current Events:
- Alexander Dale, Norwegian Olympic swimmer medal hopeful, died in training.
- Japanese employees are reportedly overworked; ave.16 hours a day
- Sothesby’s historic sale of “Scream” by Munch for almost $120 million in May 2012. It surpassed a sale by Christie’s of a Picasso last May 2010 for $106 million.
- Lisa Macuja-Elizalde in CNN’s Eye on the Philippines commenting on her poor ballet students: “They are not afraid of pain. These are the kind of students you want to have and not the spoiled brats who are afraid of pain and sweat.”
- Youth Fellowship last Friday had young people coming from Ludwigsburg, Nürtingen, and even as far as Ulm. Nicole of Ulm spends for her train ticket from her pocket money (”Taschengeld”).
- “If there is a will, there is a way. If there is no will, there is an excuse.”

I. The Temptation of Jesus (Mt.4:1-11)
1. Question God‘s Provision
- After being sustained for 40 days, he was being tempted to take matters
in his hands by „turning stones to bread“
-Wilderness experience of Israelites – provision of Manna yet they
complained and asked for meat
- Peaceful-confident trust or panic stricken?
2. Question God‘s Way
- Taken out of context of Psalms 91
- V.11-“in all thy ways“ = natural
- „Instant recognition“or God‘s way for Messiah
- Devil‘s short-cut or God‘s process?
3. Question God‘s Sovereignty
- Only God has the right over the kingdoms (Daniel 7:13 ff.)
- Going beyond the God-given sphere; Satan‘s „authority“ is limited (Job 1:9-12)
- Only ONE God – Deut.6:4,13
- Humble loving submission or murmuring rebellious spirit?
* Satan wanted Jesus to take a short-cut and be “under-challenged”

II. In the Context of God’s Kingdom
Ø From glory to glory (2 Cor.3:18), from faith to faith (Rom.1:17), and from strength to strength (Ps.84:7)
1. Challenges that are “beyond measure” have a divine purpose (2 Cor.1:8-10)
- Trust in God instead of flesh (2 Cor.10:17)
- Rely on God’s sufficient grace (2 Cor.12:9)
- Avail and apply God’s grace (1 Cor.15:10)
2. Respect the God-given spheres so as not to overreach (2 Cor.10:13-16)

III. God’s response to Moses’ excuses (Exodus 3)
1. „Who am I...?“ (v.11) > „I AM will be with you“ (v.12)
2. „What if they ask me...What shall I say...?“ (v.13-16)
> „You shall say, I AM has sent you.“
3. „They will not believe me nor hear my voice...“ (Ex 4:1)
> Miraculous Signs – Rod to serpent; Leprous hand; Water to blood
4. „I am not eloquent...“ (4:10)
> „Who made man‘s mouth?“ (4:11-12)
5. „Lord please send somebody else (4:13)
> Aaron (v.14)

IV. Determination instead of excuse
1. Paul’s singleness of purpose
Philippians 3:12 „Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet.”
Ø katalambano (καταλαμβάνω, 2638) properly signifies “to lay hold of”; then, “to lay hold of so as to possess as one’s own, to appropriate.” Hence it has the same twofold meaning as the Eng. “to apprehend”; (a), “to seize upon, take possession of,” (1) with a beneficial effect, as of “laying hold” of the righteousness which is of faith, Rom. 9:30 (not there a matter of attainment, as in the Eng. versions, but of appropriation); of the obtaining of a prize, 1 Cor. 9:24 (rv, “attain”); of the apostle’s desire “to apprehend,” or “lay hold of,” that for which he was apprehended by Christ, Phil. 3:12-13;

1Tim 6:12 – “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses
1Tim 6:19-“ storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life

2. Caleb’s ageless fighting spirit (Joshua 14:10.12)

Conclusion:
- As children of God that are benefactors of God’s grace, we are called to enlarge our capacity and reject the convenient road of being under-challenged.
- We are to go from glory to glory, from faith to faith, and from strength to strength.
- Let us avail of God’s grace and maximize our God-given potentials for His glory and honor.
- Jeremiah 12:5

Victorious Lord! – 1 Cor 15:55

Protect yourself from Backsliding (Reggie Ocampo) 18 March 2012

Prov.14:14 –“The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from above. “

Intro: Several philosophers grew up in Christian homes but later developed philosophies that are not supportive of Christian beliefs and/or even against the faith. An extreme example is Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) who was a pastor’s son. He provided many arguments against the Christian faith so much so that he has been described as “einen Schrittmacher des Antichrist” (H.Lamparter “Prüfet die Geister” p. 126).

I. The Spiral of Degradation (read Romans 1:21-22, 24-28, 32)
- The Anatomy of Backsliding
1. Failure to worship God
“Yes, they knew about him all right, but they wouldn’t admit it or worship him…”
1.1. No worship – no foundation
· Religiosity doesn’t necessarily mean worship
· We are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, & strength (Mark 12:29-30)
1.2. Knowledge apart from the fear of the Lord feeds pride (Prov.26:12, Isa.5:21, 1 Cor.8:1-3)
1.3. Self-exaltation comes at the loss of first love
“…they glorified Him not as God.”
· Man’s love for self replaces love for God
· Belief in self supplants belief in God
· Self-glory substitutes the glory that belongs to God

2. Ungrateful Spirit
“…but they wouldn’t admit it or worship him or even thank him for all his daily care.”
· Ungratefulness is breeding ground for murmur and complaint
· Moses generation forfeited the promise land due to this
· One should give thanks to the Lord for He is good (Psalm 118:29)

3. Unchecked Thoughts
“And after awhile they began to think up silly ideas of what God was like and what he wanted them to do.”
3.1. Spiritual warfare rages in the mind (2 Cor.10:3-5)
· As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov.23:7)
3.2. Sinful mind is hostile to God (Rom.8:7)
· Be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Eph.4:23)
· Set your mind on things above and not on things on the earth (Col.3:2)
· Stay your mind in God in order to experience perfect peace (Isa.26:3)

4. Darkened Heart
“And their foolish hearts were darkened…”
· Vision is impaired in darkness
4.1. God is not the author of confusion (1 Cor.14:33)
4.2. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5)
4.3. Righteousness doesn’t hide in darkness (Phil.2:15)

5. Self-Deception
“Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies.”
5.1. Don’t harden your heart (Hebrews 3:8, 15; 4:7)
5.2. Self-justification and excuses must be exposed for what they are

6. Idolatrous and Perverted Heart
“So they prayed to the things God made, but wouldn’t obey the blessed God who made these things.”
· Misplaced devotion and adoration

7. Uncontrolled Behavior
“That is why God let go of them and let them do all these evil things,…”
· It is said that one of the greatest judgments is for God to give us what we have been asking for.
· Israelites asked for meat (Num.11:19-20)
· Paradidomai (Greek) = “to deliver”
· It is a fearful thing if God delivers one to his own evil desires without any restrictions.

8. Open Rebellion
“They were fully aware of God’s death penalty for these crimes, yet they went right ahead and did them anyway.”
· Rebellion to God is slavery to sin (John 8:34, Rom.6:16, Ps.107:10-11)

9. Bad Influence
“They were fully aware of God’s death penalty for these crimes, yet they went right ahead and did them anyway, and encouraged others to do them, too.”
· Misery loves company
· Severe judgment to one who causes others to stumble (Matthew 18:6-7)

II. Antidote to Backsliding
1. Reverse the spiral of degradation; be and do the exact opposite
· Lambs among the wolves speak of the opposite spirit (Luke 10:3)
2. Keep your heart with all diligence (Prov.4:23)
3. Walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8)

Conclusion: Backsliding begins in the heart and we should be careful. Being religious shouldn’t cause us to be relaxed in thinking that we are okay. On the other hand, if we are faithful and committed to the Lord, God is more faithful and committed to us (Jude 24).

Geneisis Mandate - (Reggie Ocampo) 11th Mac 2012

Four Specific Commissions

Gen 1:28 –“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Intro: Question of Origin : Are we are product of coincidence or are we planned and created with purpose and meaning?

Gen. 1:26 –“Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

I. Man is blessed for a Purpose (Gen.1:28, Eph.2:10)

1. BE FRUITFUL
- Parah (Hebrew) – “to bear fruit”
- Karpophoreo (Greek) – “to be fertile”
1.1. Fruitfulness / Increase is God’s will (John 15:8)
- The Father is glorified when we bear much fruit.
1.2. We have the potential to reproduce (Eph.3:20)
- God will not command it if it is not so.
- We must reject all thoughts and beliefs to the contrary.
1.3. Fruit bearing is organic and natural/ Life reproduces life (2 Peter 1:4)
1.4. God is not leaving fruitfulness to chance. We have the responsibility to respond to God’s command. (1 Cor.15:10)
- We cannot expect things to happen by doing nothing.

2. MULTIPLY
2.1. God thinks bigger (not just in addition but multiplication)
- Parable of the Mustard Seed (Luke 13:18-19)
2.2. Seed bearing fruits thirty - , sixty -, or hundred fold (Matthew 13:23)
2.3. Seed produces fruit according to its own kind (Gen.1:11)
2.4. Paul’s instruction to Timothy – four generations (2 Tim.2:2)

3. FILL THE EARTH
- Other translations use the words “populate”, “replenish”
- We carry substance
3.1. One can’t fill if there is no substance.
3.2. We are created in the image of God (Gen.1:26)
3.3. Christ is in us, the hope of glory (Col.1:27)
3.4. Kabod – “Glory” in Hebrew also means “weight”

4. HAVE DOMINION
- Earth was made for man and the other way around.
- We are stewards.
4.1. We are kings and priests (Rev.1:5-6)
4.2. We have been given the keys of the kingdom (Matthew 16:19)
4.3. We are to rule over sin and not the other way around (Rom.6:14)
4.4. We are to first rule over our lives and what is ours (1 Tim.3:5)
4.5. We are destined to reign with the Lord (1 Cor.6:2-3)
- We are On the Job Training (OJT)

II. The Process for the Purpose to be Fulfilled

1. Pruning leads to Fruitfulness (John 15:2)
2. Death of seed is required for Multiplication (John 12:24)
3. Brokenness is prerequisite to have Substance to Fill (Jer.18:4)
4. Humility is the way to Rule and Reign (Matthew 20:26-27

Conclusion: We are blessed by God and mandated to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and to rule and reign. The way to fulfill our commission is to through pruning, dying to self, brokenness and humility.
- It may seem hard but with God, we are able to go through the process and fulfill our purpose (Luke 18:27).

Learning from Esther

Five Essential Responses to the Call of the Hour
Esther – a Type of the Bride of Christ
The Church has access to the Inner Chamber of the King of kings.
Ps 91:1
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Wer unter dem Schutz des Höchsten bleibt, / unter dem Schatten des Allmächtigen wohnt

In your security bubble, are you aware that ...?
Est 3:13 –“And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.”

„Eilboten sollten die Schreiben in alle Provinzen des Königs befördern. Sie enthielten den Befehl, alle Juden zu vernichten, umzubringen und auszurotten, Jung und Alt, Männer, Frauen und Kinder. Ihr Besitz sollte zur Plünderung freigegeben werden. Und das alles sollte am 8. März des folgenden Jahres geschehen.“

There is a God-size vacuum in every man that only God can fill.“ (Blaise Pascal, Franz. Mathematiker)

Und von den Kindern Issaschar: Männer, welche Einsicht hatten in die Zeiten, um zu wissen, was Israel tun mußte; ihre Häupter, zweihundert; und alle ihre Brüder folgten ihrem Befehl.
Est 4:3-4
And in every province where the king's command and decree arrived, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes. 4 So Esther's maids and eunuchs came and told her, and the queen was deeply distressed. ..

Est 4:13-14
And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: "Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king's palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"
THE HARVEST (Reggie Ocampo) 5th Feb 2012

The Spiritual State of Europe
- Why I am a missionary in Germany, in Europe?
- The least responsive to the Gospel
- 750 Million people – 400 M. of which has never opened the Bible
- Considered solidly post-Chirstian
- Less than One percent Evangelicals (Born Again)
> Military, they send the best warriors to the toughest assignments.

"Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe...Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision" Joel 3:13-14
- Perhaps, the present financial difficulties is a valley of decision.

Two revelations will change our attitude to evangelism:

There is a harvest
"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35
There is a sense of urgency at harvest time. Nothing else takes higher priority. God wants to open our eyes to see the harvest.
- Sugar planter in Bacolod told me - "You have no choice but to harvest during harvest time."

There is a Lord of the harvest
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest...to send out workers into His harvest field." Matthew 9:37-38
The harvest field belongs to God, not us. He is called "the Lord of the Harvest." He doesn't want the harvest trampled down by careless workers. So He trains His workers and sends them out. As God's harvest workers, we must obey His directions.

Four Stages of the Harvest
"...This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain - first the stalk, then the head. As sson as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come" Mark 4:26-29
As the Lord of the harvest, God has a way of doing things in His harvest field. The harvest can be at one of the four stages:

PLOWING ( I Corinthians 9:10)
"Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, & break up your unplowed ground..." Hos.10:12
The plowing stage is a picture of people who are not yet ready to receive the seed of God's word (Eph.4:18; 2 Cor.4:4). This may be due to grief, hardness or ignorance. In Jesus' parable of the sower (Matt.13:3-9, 18-23) there were four types of ground:
° Hard ground - hearts that are hardened against the Gospel
° Rocky ground - hearts whose response has no depth
° Thorny ground - hearts entangled by worldly cares
° Good ground - hearts that respond to the Gospel
A properly prepared harvest field should always have more good ground than hard, rocky, and thorny ground. The hard ground in the parable was the pathway that ran aroundthe outside of the field. Likewise, the rocky and thorny grounds lay at the edges of the field. If the main part of the field is hard, rocky or thorny, then plowing is needed. It is plowing which makes the ground ready for the seed of the Gospel.
"When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil? When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field? His God instructs him and teaches him the right way" Isaiah 28:24-26
We plow with our prayers & our lives. But there is one more thing which God can use to plow a person's heart-the circumstances of life.Problems & difficulties can prepare people to receive.

SOWING
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." 2 Cor.9:6
The sowing phase is important because this is where the harvest eventually comes from. When you sow a seed into someone's heart, you may not see immediate results. But the sower is still a vital part of the harvest process. In times of the moving of God's Spirit, the reaping can even overtake the sowing and the plowing. (read Amos 9:13 and Galatians 6:9)

WATERING
"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow." 1 Cor. 3:6
The watering phase of the harvest falls between sowing and reaping. At this stage, the seed may be dormant in the heart of the unbeliever. But with watering, the seed will begin to sprout. Watering is a reinforcing of the witness already given.

REAPING
"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him." Psalm 126:5-6
Reaping is a time of great rejoicing. But when we lead a person to receive Christ, we must remember that we are just one of the workers in God's field. We are reaping what somebody else has sown, just as we have sown what others have reaped (Read John 4:37-38).
We must recognize what stage of harvest an unbeliever is at. We then cooperate with God in His work of the harvest. Whether we sow or reap, we must remember that we are only one part of a team of many harvester workers. There can never be competition and selfish ambition amongst harvesters.
"So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers, you are God's field..." 1 Cor.3:7-9

God's burning desire is to reach a lost world. He wants to see a great harvest, not only among your own people, but also beyond - to other peoples and nations around you which have not yet heard the Gospel. He wants us to join Him in the harvest.

START SHARING TO OTHERS WHAT YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH HIM
read John 4:39-42

BE WISE – WIN SOULS
„The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” - Proverbs 11:30

EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF LEADING A SOUL TO JESUS
“ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.“- Luke 15:10

BE PART OF THE INEVITABLE
Matthew 24:14

FEAR NOT! THE LORD OF THE HARVEST IS WITH US!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19

God’s Appointed Time and Place “Be Where God wants you to be” - Reggie Ocampo (22 Jan 2012)

Intro:
- Founder Cantor Fitzgerald survived the attack on WTC because he brought his son on his 1st day of kindergarten.
- Niece of Loida and Naomi survived typhoon Sendong because she went with her parents to Church for an overnight prayer meeting. Otherwise, she would have drowned as their house was inundated.
- Capt.Schettino was upbraided by Coast Guard De Falco for not being on board his ship “Costa Concordia” when it was in trouble. Filipino cook – waiter testified that the Captain was with a woman having dinner when the accident was happening based from initial news reports.
- 2012 is a very crucial year , be sure you are found to be in the right place at the right time.

I. God’s Appointed Place

OUTPOURING OF THE SPIRIT ON AN APPOINTED PLACE
Luke 24:48-49
And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem* until you are endued with power from on high."

II. Be Determined to be where God is

ONE THING
Ps 27:4-5
One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

CHOOSE THE ONE THING
Luke 10:41-42
And Jesus* answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
NO OTHER BETTER PLACE
Ps 84:10
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

III. Tragedy – Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

DAVID WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE WHEN HE SAW BATHSHEBA
2 Sam 11:1-2
It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.
2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.

PETER WAS WARMING ON THE WRONG FIRE WHEN HE DENIED JESUS
Mark 14:66-68
Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Nazareth."
68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.

ELIJAH’S DEPRESSION IN A CAVE
1 Kings 19:9
And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

JONAH – the Runaway Prophet
- Ship to Tarshish was on the opposite direction of Nineveh
- His disobedience endangered the lives of innocent seafarers.

IV. Ripple Effect of Obedience of being in the right place

Ø “There comes a special moment in everyone’s life, a moment for which that person was born. That special opportunity, when he seizes it, will fulfill his mission – a mission for which he is uniquely qualified. In that moment, he finds greatness. It is his finest hour.”
- Winston Churchill (UK Prime Minister 1940-45 and 1951-55)

- “Life is like a parachute jump; you’ve got to get it right the first time.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt (First Lady USA 1933-45 )

Esther in the palace to save the Jews
„...yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?“ - Esther 4:14

Philip –> Samaria –> Desert –> Ethiopian Eunuch -> Nations (Acts 8:5-8; 26-27)

Paul heeds the Macedonian Call (Acts 16:6-10)

SHUNAMITE WOMAN OBEYED THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE MAN OF GOD & WAS BLESSED
2 Kings 8:1-6
Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years." 2 So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and dwelt in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 It came to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went to make an appeal to the king for her house and for her land. 4 Then the king talked with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, "Tell me, please, all the great things Elisha has done." 5 Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had restored to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life." 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him.
So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, "Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now."

V. No time to be in the wrong place

Nehemiah refused to be deviated
„...I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?“ - Neh 6:3

Jesus’ singleness of purpose

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no man can work.” (John 9:4)

Conclusion:

- Let us know our God appointed place and God appointed time and be determined to be at the right place at the right time.

Do not neglect your gift by Reggie Ocampo (15th January 2012)

1 Tim 4:14-16
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
Intro: Significance of the number 12 speaks of discipleship. True disciples are committed and are actively involved in the kingdom of God.

I. Do not neglect the gift that is in you
A. Imperative tense (true disciples are used to receiving commands)
- Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
B. “Gift” (χάρισμα, charisma) is used to designate “a gift freely and graciously given.”
C. Already within you / Each believer has received a portion of grace
Eph.4:7 - “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it…”
D. Stir up the gift
2 Timothy 1:5-8-“…fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord…But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.”

II. Discover your Ministry Gift
A. Ministry gifts are not unnatural
- Even though there is a supernatural element to the gifts of God- they are called “grace” they will never sit uncomfortably with a believer. If there’s strain & pressure in ministry, this is an indication that you are possibly stepping beyond that grace. It is important to learn how to flow with, not against, the gifts God has given you.
B. Ministry start with the heart
- To minister means “to serve”. It is love in action. This heart attitude is the basis of all ministry - to the Lord, to our family, to the Body of Christ and to the world. As we move out with the desire to serve others, the gifts which are within us will rise and be expressed, for God has given them so that through us He can bless others.
- Servanthood: to bless and minister (serve)
1 Cor 16:14-15 “Do everything in love. You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. I urge you, brothers,”
1 Pet 4:7-11-“The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the
strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen”(NIV)
- It is very difficult to discover ministry gifts if a person is not actually ministering! Gift recognition comes out of observation. It is only as we operate that our special gifts and calling become obvious.
C. Ministry is outward-looking (Ministry is people-focused)
- Matt 9:35-36-“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.(NIV)”
- If we concentrate on ourselves- thinking always of our needs and our own desires- it will be difficult to discover our ministry. In fact, the focus is not our ministry. The focus is other people. As we begin to look out- to see the needs in others, the cries for help, the gaps in ministry- and move to meet those needs, our gifts will be clarified.

III. “Motivational gifts” (The Starting Place)
- Rom 12:6-8-“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” (NIV)
- These seven gifts are often called “motivational gifts”, since they identify emphases in a person’s personality make-up. They are “in-built” tendencies upon which our ministry is built.

IV. Meditate on and give yourself entirely
- Let your mind be deeply impressed with these things; make them the subject of profound and serious thought.

V. Progress may be evident to all
- Antidote to stagnancy (Muscles grow when used)

VI. Take heed to yourself and the doctrine
- Walk in humility
- Gifts used within the border of the Scriptures. Guidelines.
- Watch your life (lit., "yourself") and doctrine (lit., "the teaching"; cf. 1:10; 4:1,6,13; 5:17; 6:1) closely summarizes 4:6-16. Throughout this epistle Paul had been advising Timothy concerning his private life and public ministry. He was to keep a sharp eye on both, persevering in the instructions Paul had offered in the two realms. In so doing, said Paul, you will save both yourself and your hearers. Ultimately only God can save, of course; yet in a secondary sense the New Testament speaks of a person "saving" himself (Phil 2:12) and others (James 5:19-20; Jude 23). Paul's words are a pointed reminder of the awesome burden of responsibility that congregational leaders carry. (from Bible Knowledge Commentary)
